Cool. I have never seen a "Ventura" option on these.

    Very nice car!

My cousin used to have a base '69 Catalina Safari... pretty much low option except it had the 428 engine.

Brings back memories of my '69 Executive Safari (pic taken in 2003 I think).

So rare that it's not shown in either the 1969 Pontiac Full-line brochure nor in the separate 1969 Pontiac Station Wagons brochure.

Page 10 out of the wagons brochure:

The Ventura was offered as a separate model that year. No wagon version is shown:

So what explains this car? A model offered in Canada but not in the U.S.? Someone took a "Ventura" badge and stuck it on a wagon?

The listing shows the car's window sticker. Note that it's a Catalina wagon with something called a "Ventura Custom Option Bench" listed about half-way down. Is that a bench seat? Why would that result in a different badge on the outside of the car?

    It's definitely not a Canadian-market car.

A little more on this. From the '69 Pontiac Wagons brochure Catalina page, note the quick comment in parentheses on the right side, third line: "So is the even richer Ventura interior, below right, you can specify." This is consistent with the window sticker entry referring to the Ventura option as having to do with the front seat. Still don't see why this should result in a different badge on the side of the car, but apparently it did.

Whatever the story on this car's name, it's certainly the definition of a barn-find. Looks brand new.

That is what I was wondering as well. I was wondering if I was missing some info, so I read the auction and all I could see was in the window sticker where it read, "Ventura" option and mentioned the seat. I too wondered what does that have to do with the seat and why in the world would that get its own badge? lol.

At first I thought it was maybe a Canadian model, but then seen "Catalina" on the window sticker.

GM did some strange things with their vehicle names back then (50s-70s).

1970 Pontiac Ventura Wagon; nice interior - $895 (Annville, Pa)

By far, not the same caliber as the low-mileage car.

I've stored this car indoors for five years, but the way the economy has been, it doesn't look like I'll ever get the time or the money to restore it or even to part it out. So, if you're looking to restore a Pontiac wagon, cheaply, or if you need lots of hard-to-find 69-70 full size Pontiac wagon parts, this is the one for you.

The interior in this car is a VERY rare Ventura variant, the only one I've ever seen in my 30+ years of Pontiac-ing. And, it's in really nice shape, too.

The car has no engine or transmission.

The car has a title from Iowa, I believe.

    THE PRICE IS FIRM.

Usually means (but not always) that someone swooped in and made the eBay seller an offer he couldn't refuse.

I think you're right. He says right in his listing that the auction could end at any time as the car is for sale "in other environments".
