For $225, you can't really miss. It is worth that in scrap value alone, and there are quite a number of good trim parts, if nothing else, should be rest be too far gone. Hope it can be saved, though, as this is not a common wagon at all. Love the lines on it, too.

Rolling the dice with this this one, could be a screaming deal BUT.... whats the interior like, and 4 flat tires sitting on wet coast dirt since ???? You would have to drag it out to see if it's worth saving.

It says it's a Villager wagon, but I thought it was a Montego. Perhaps they called the Montego wagon, (Mercury's version of the Torino), a Villager. Anybody know for sure?
I'll bet it's a pretty rare car as I don't recall seeing a whole lot of them back then, especially without the wood.

Looking at a '69 Mercury brochure, all it showed was a 'woody' Montego, and they called it a 'Montego MX'. No mention of the word 'Villager' or anything else, and no pics in the brochure of a non-woody' Montego wagon. This was probably one of those brochures they throw out to auto show attendees - not complete information. Did have one thing, though......who remembers the 1969 COMET?

I don't recall the '69 Comet. I thought they were all Montegos.

No naughty :naughty: Comets in 1968 or 1969(all Montegos), the Comet name came back for the Merc version of the Ford Mav. 1970 or 1971?

Just did a bit of research.
For 68 and 69, the Comet was only available as the two door. The four door and wagon were called the Montego. For 1970, they all were Montegos. The Comet came back in '71 as Mercury's version of the Maverick.

Oh, just saw your response Moto MIke. Thanks

So there was a 68/69 Comet? Maybe a base level type car to the Montego like the 70/71 Falcon was to the Torino?

Yup - exactly. Not sure about '68 though. This was only in a '69 brochure. My favorite brochure web site doesn't have any '68 Mercury brochures.
