What a beautiful old car. The instrument panel is a work of art and I love column-shift automatics. It must be very closely related to the Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser. Would it have the 401 Nailhead engine?
Buick stopped using Nailhead engines after model year 1966, and on a Nailhead the ignition is at the back of the engine. Standard engine was a 350 Buick small block, optional engine a Buick 400 big block. Looking at the valve covers in the photo above, this is a 350 engine .
Ok, got it. Many thanks. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter so much, as long as there's a Yank V8 up front. Reclining into that seat, turning the key and listening to the 350 burble into life before shifting into Drive and wafting away would be an experience to die for.
