My 66 Ranch Wagon currently has the manual drums with no proportioning valve. This concerns me, as I do not want to blow a brake line and loose all of my brakes. Has anyone upgraded their manual drums to power drums with a proportioning valve

I don't see how adding a proportioning valve will help you, once a line blows. Everyone else just convert the single master system over to a dual where proportioning valves are used

I didn't mean just add a proportioning valve, you can put one on a single bowl unit. I ment upgrading the whole unit to a different master cylinder..

I have. I upgraded my '63 Country Sedan from manual drums to power disks. I already had a dual master and proportioning valve, but it all got yanked for the new kit. After a lot of research, I used a kit from Leed's Brakes. I am loving it.

Well actually, *I* didn't do it, I had a local shop do it. but I paid for it. ;) I didn't have a lift or garage space to do it.

Just need a duel master cyl. like from a 69 wagon will have correct bore and proportioning for drum brake . Check rock auto for your info on this .

I’d think about converting at least the front drums to disc. You’ll be happy you did. I always felt like disc brakes are easier to maintain

Agreed. I wouldn't worry so much about the rear.
