I think I have figured out the picture download on here. So I'm trying it out. I acquired my longroof last April out of East St. Louis. It was owned by a gentleman who bought it brand new, had it for the rest of his life, then he passed away in 2007. His son acquired his entire estate. Fast forward to 2017, the guy I bought the car from goes to the sons home with a friend to look at a van to purchase. When the son opens the garage door the van sits there and in the back off to the side all that is visible of a vista cruiser are the vista windows! The guy instantly asked about the station wagon. The son is astonished that the guy even knew what was under all the clutter even more amazed that he was interested in buying it! Well to say the least both the van and the station wagon where purchased that day. After a couple of weeks of hoeing out the garage the buyer takes possession of the wagon, puts it on E-Bay and the rest is history... I'm the new proud owner of a 1965 Olds Longroof!
Thanks Peter and Krash, It is remarkably rust free. The only spot being on the passenger rear quarter under the spare tire well. Everyone that has seen the underside can't believe it came out of Illinois. I talked with the son quite a bit, he said his dad took extraordinary care of the car and was always garage for it's entire life.
The interior looks amazing. I vaguely remember the ebay listing for this. Looks like you got a real nice one.
Beautiful. Nice find. Based on my own 64 Vista, I would suggest removing the stainless trim around the roof windows and checking for pinchweld rust. Mine was from Reno and looked equally rust free - until I pulled that trim off. Mine has rust holes in the pinchwelds. Yours looks better than mine, but I'd check and address any potential issues before they become holes. Good luck.
Its gorgeous good for the buyer who noticed it !! I just help a friend sell a 64 Sport Roof 455 4 speed to another friend in New Brunswick
That's one clean looking original condition wagon you got there! I'm slightly jealous... Thanks for sharing the photos of it. I hope you enjoy the heck out of it.
Thanks to all who have commented on this thread! I did three cruise- ins and a couple of shows last summer, but mostly took my lovely wife and our two Labradors on a weekend road trip to some sort of destination. Really enjoyed the heck out of just cruising around in her! One thing, if you don't like to have people come up and ask a lot of questions don't buy a longroof, I met a lot of nice people that way though, as most of you already know about that.... Longroofs Rule!
