20-Years-Owned 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible for sale on BaT Auctions - ending September 27 (Lot #56,020) | Bring a Trailer I was born in 64, and this is the car (maybe not this specific car) I'd get if i had the money. Red convertible, i would rather have white seats.
Hope we all get our dream cars someday, but we should keep in mind that we may already drive what someone else would love to have.
As the great American poet Sheryl Crow once said - "It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you got" I'm happy with my fleet. Sure, there are cars I'd love to own, but I have to be realistic. And truth be told, there sure is not a lot of new or new-ish cars that really excite me enough to slam down some bread for. I could only think of about 4 or 5 new cars.
. That is a beautiful car and it brings back personal memories for me . I was 14 in 1964 , raised on a farm and a bit of a country bumpkin ... the neighbor boy was 17 and had worked the summer in a nickle mine and made a bunch of money. He came home with a brand new '64 Galaxie convertible.... medium blue with a white roof , white interior , and had the 292 V8 . We were at the age where all we thought about was girls and cars so we decided to head to the lake and beach ... figured with a car like that we would have it full of beauties in no time. It was a hot day so we put the top down , took our shirts off and away we went. It was a 3 hour drive by paved road or 2 hours by a country gravel road so we took the shortcut. By the time we got there the car was covered in dust ... the white interior was covered in dust ... we were covered in dust ... and sweating under the hot sun we had rivulets of mud streaking down our bodies ... which of course transferred mud streaks to the seats as well. As we cruised along the beach road the only comments from the crowds of girls included the words "dirt" and "dirty" .... we arrived back home with our virginity intact and horrible sunburns. haaaaa .... thanks for the memories .
That's the stuff of life. Going on adventures. It may not have turned out the way you planned, but it clearly left an indelible mark on you.
