1960 Mercury Commuter Hardtop 9 Passenger Station Wagon - $6300 (Tinley Park)
I have a 1960 Mercury Commuter Hardtop Wagon.

It's a 9 passenger. They are pretty rare to come by. The only one I've ever seen in person is the one I have. I have two other cars that need their engines rebuilt. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. One less car might help me out.

The car runs, drives, and stops. The optional 383 V-8 engine was professionally rebuilt this past year. All of it. The heads, carb, water pump, starter, power steering pump, fuel pump,... The transmission was completely rebuilt, and finished last November. The headlights, and tail lights work. So does the heat. The exhaust system looks like it was replaced fairly recently.

The tires are also new, and the entire brake system. The brake booster was also rebuilt. It has a new fuel tank installed along with new fuel hose from the tank to the fuel pump. I was lucky enough to find an original tank in beautiful condition for $500. The cardboard headliner is not up, but I have the panels. I also have new rear bumper ends.

Although this is the lower model wagon, it has factory AC which gives you the full chrome dash. It also has power rear window, and power front seat. (The rear window and power seat do not currently work. I have not looked into them. I have the rear tailgate lock as well) It also has power steering and power brakes.

When I bought the car, I was hoping to just have body and interior work done. I was not anticipating completely rebuilding the engine and trans. I can't afford to get the car completely where I'd like it to be. I'd like someone else to finish bringing it back to it's original condition.

Not a bad price considering it's a hardtop wagon and the drive train's been rebuilt.

Cool wagon and reasonably priced. I believe the owner is a forum member, the car was advertised here in the classified section recently.
