Love it and its in my favorite paint color option. I always look for the bullet point tail lights to tell the 55 and 56 apart.
That's a good way to do it. I was obsessed with the 55, 56 & 57 chevy when I was a kid, so I know all of the subtle and not so subtle differences. But then there are other cars that I look at and think to myself "that's 67 -72-ish looking ..."
Beautiful example of a real nice, original '56 Nomad. Probably still has the original 265 V-8 in it too.
Gas fill is behind left tailight snooterbuckets. Gassed up a ton of them at Foster's Sinclair. Beautiful 56.
I love Tri-Five chevies. Been obsessed with them since I was a child. Although the 57 is my favorite overall car of the three, I have to say I always liked the fuel access on the 56 more than on the 57. Just something about turning that piece of trim on the 56 sideways to open the hidden fuel cap.
I always knew from watching my Dad where the fill was on a '57, but never fooled with a 55 or 56. I had a 57 Oldsmobile that the experience with Dad's 57 paid off - the filler wasn't behind the light, but behind the flip-up chrome piece on the driver side below the light. I thought it was way cool, too - much better than the bland, behind the flip-down license plates of some cars.
I always thought it was interesting that the 55 had a regular square gas door on the side. Then for 56 + it was hidden.
