I'm kinda new here and I would like to share my progress on the wagon I'm building for my wife. I am nearing completion so I won't try to cover all the details of this build but I will give a little history,,My wife's grandmother purchased this car to use at her flower shop,,after many years it was given to my wife's dad and he ended up giving it to us. The car was driven for a while and because of a mechanical problem it languished in our barn for many years. My wife learned how to drive in this car,,we hauled our twin girls in this car almost 30 years ago,,time fly's when you are having fun. In February 2003 I decided it was time to rebuild this car for my wife,, 103 patch panels,,3,300 lbs of sand,,more hours than I care to remember and almost 9 years later this is where I am at now,,for a look at what has been accomplished check out the site below. There is over 250 photos from the first photo of still sitting in the barn to the most recent. http://public.fotki.com/hotrodprimer/hotrodprimer-1/
Love Ranchwagons!! Very nice job, Worth the effort I'm sure. I'm sure the Missus will be happy with her "Grocery Getter". What size SBF did you put in it, and what trans? I have a '55 Ranchwagon myself. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the channel for the rear sliders.
'54 Wagon An appropriate comment from Jackie Gleason "How sweet it is"! Our family had a '54 4 door wagon when we went to Okinawa in 1955. TJ in GB
The engine is a 5.0 (302) and a 5-speed transmission out of a 84 Mustang,,I haven't taken a current photo of the engine but this is the engine several months ago,, I ran into the same problem everyone has with the channel for the sliding glass and the channels were fabricated and I used regular window channel like you use for door glass,,because the regular window channel is not as deep as the original equipment type I raised it up in the back and I replaced all the glass to fit,,it was a PITA but it was the only way to get it to work like I wanted. Hrprimer, amazing restoration job and I love that you chronicled it all with pictures. You've got to be so proud, what a gorgeous Ranch Wagon.
Wow, so pretty! Living with my car for the last 7 months, I forget that these cars were once shiny... When do you get it back on the road?
Is that a control for a Vibasonic (Reverb) under the dash?? Kind of looks like what I remember they looked like anyway??
