I know ya'll must have noticed, except maybe the Cat Man who's either asleep at the switch or nervously looking over his shoulder watching for Miss Dollie and her iron skillet, that the forum is creeping up on the 10k mark in membership! What's anyone's guess as to what date and maybe hour the clicker will tally 10,000? Perhaps wagonmaster can provide some stats info from his control panel? Will it happen before Christmas? before the New Year? before X acquires his dream hearse? Stay tuned!
More than 10? I AM NOT ASLEEP. Altho I didn't get up till 10AM which is actually 11AM, I think. And I always look out of the corner of my eye at Dollie just in case. Can't trust old women ya know. Which brings me to the question burning in all our minds. And it also brings an embarrasing fact to light. I have no idea how many members we have or where to look. But hazzarding a guess there's a great chance this will happen way before Xavier finds his dream hearse, which I'm sure will look like a night mare to me! All good in the wonderfull world of station wagons because my tastes for these old wagons lies closer to CUTE like my friend Fannie than to GOTH like my other friend Mr Keys. On a sad note, here and on other forums I wander, even though there are more members, there are less ACTIVE members than in the past. So 10,000 or 1,000,000 really doesn't matter. Let's get out and get those missing members back and the newer members active telling their station wagon adventures.
Down at the bottom of the home page, Model T. Here's what it says now: Threads: 27,014, Posts: 268,661, Members: 9,749 Welcome to our newest member, questns We're 251 members away. I bet we get about 30 members a month (maybe 50 on the high side?), so I'd say we're 5 to 8 months away.
I've noticed a lot of new members coming in as well Scout, some seem to come in set up a profile, get very warm welcomes, then you never see them post again. I always wonder about that...I have been on my share of forums and this one blows them all away.
We get an average of 4 registrations a day. At this rate, we should hit the 10,000 mark in early to mid January.
Thank you. Maybe that will be my birthday present. If not, everyone send money or station wagons to the boonies, NW Florida
Have to agree with Dewey. Compared to other forums, this one is the most active, welcoming and helpful one I've discovered. Days can go by without any new posts, stories, introductions, etc on the others I've visited...and I'll therefore go so far as to admit this is the only one for which I've set up a profile.
To me this is the only forum I feel like family. Maybe you guys feel sorry for me and took me in. I just relearned something. When I sign in here, actually just come on, since I never sign out, I end up on my own PROFILE PAGE. I go directly to NEW POSTS. I haven't been on the HOME PAGE forever. But there it is, down at the bottom, everything we'd want to know about this group.
Damnit we are family here, and you're the big daddy Cat. It's funny the forum "habits" you get into, I go to Wagon of the Day first, then to User Cp, then to New Posts. I do use the home page quite a bit mostly to get my wagon porn fix.
Nope.. 10 AM is actually 10 AM in the Eastern Time Zone from November 3rd to March 9th, 2014.. Daylight Savings Time has ended, and now we are back to the correct time. We move the clocks ahead for Daylight Savings Time in the spring, since the sun is higher in the sky during the second and third quarters of the calender, and the politicians want us to be awake earlier, so we go to bed earlier, and don't use electrical current to light our homes.
That's the way it was intended. But then came factories where they had three eight hour shifts causing many to work with lighting and sleep while the sun shines. I actually forgot which way was correct. Or which way is UP! Rumor was it was for the farmers who I heard mostly hated it. After all, they don't care what time it is anyway. They get up when the chickens cluck and go to bed when it gets dark. Just like the Cave man and man before him did. Even the woodland creatures and the plants go by the rising and setting sun. I don't care what time it is. I just wish they'd leave it alone. And I am in the eastern time zone until we go back to Illinois to visit then I'm in some other zone. Until then I, like millions of others, turn on the lights, TV, computer, micro wave, and other important electrical devices made possible by our good friend Tommy Edison and enjoy life after dark. Not to get political but I wish those politicians would stick it where the sun don't shine!
Most users ever online was 735, 2010-12-21 at 18:47 PM. I've always wondered what was going on this day since I hadn't discovered the forum yet. The most I've ever seen on at any one time is around 200. Was someone giving away a red and white wagon for Christmas and you had to be present to win???
I think there was a effort to get as many members signed on at a particular time at least once, that might have been the time? Esp. being near a major Holiday.
That number includes lurkers. Ill try to reset it over the weekend in order to get a better idea of how many people we get currently.
