1972 Dodge Polara Custom Wagon

Up for sale is a 1972 Dodge Polara Custom Wagon. This car is equipped with a 360 V8, 4bbl, 727 auto trans and a newer custom exhaust. It has a bench seat with high back, 53,000 original miles, custom stereo with dual 10" subwoofers (not in dash, no cutting). This custom wagon is a 6 passenger and one of only 3500 approx custom wagons made in '72. Don't miss out on a great chance to own a fantastic classic car. This car gets more looks and comments at than most other cars at a car show. The interior is fantastic, the outside would need some work to really be excellent quality. $11,500 o.b.o. Great cruizer with room for the family. Usually get around 14mpg driving around. Have owned for 9 years and I am pretty sure i'm the third owner of this car. It was assembled in Belevedere, IL and then went to New Hampshire, where it spent the first 25 years of its life. Then it made its way to Wisconsin. I have some records and manuals pro ving h istory, everything goes with car, including stereo. I've owned it since 2003 and have won my class at a few car shows. Even 1st place!

As hard as I try,
I can not find a nice way to say this...

WAYYYYYY over priced !!!!!

"the outside would need some work to really be excellent quality. $11,500 o.b.o"

Plus dash wiring, motor been messed with, aftermarket carb, needing armrest,
spkr's in kick panels, red wheels, cruise non-op, underhood wiring messed with,, etc..

You are asking more than what someone with a 100% stock original car would
and for a car that is,, well,, being polite here, lacking...

It looks like a nice car,, just not $11,500 nice ....

.

I had the hardest time pricing. I do agree with Xenon for all the comments. And thanks for the comments. I just have a very hard time finding similar mopar wagons.

We did the aftermarket carb because the 2bbl that was on there sucked. I know it is not original now, but it runs a lot better.

The red wheels, armrest, non working cruise and a/c were all there when i bought the car. I just never put them back to stock. I've just been driving it and without much budget or desire to fix those things.

I knew I could find some useful responses here on the forum. In you're opinion what would be a more fair price? I was leaning towards $8 or so, but was also hoping someone would just offer something like that, even though the asking price was 11.5.

Seein' as I am the one who burst your bubble guess I should be the one to stand up and say why....
Lets address each line starting with :
" I just have a very hard time finding similar mopar wagons. "
People didn't want then back in the day and people don't want them
today, which sucks for people like me who DO want them..
The Mopar wagon supply is rather limited but those that would
actually spend to get one is also limited..

" We did the aftermarket carb because " bla bla bla.... !
Not being the owner or the seller all I see is you spent 300/400$ to
loose 1000/1500$... Making any performance MOD limits your market
extremely.. An original car is usually more desirable ..

" The red wheels, armrest, non working yada, yada, yada,I've just
been driving it and without much budget or desire to fix those things."
If your budget or desire is low then your price should be low....
When you have no desire to fix it others will have no desire to buy it..

" I was leaning towards $8 or so, but was also hoping someone would just offer something like that, even though the asking price was 11.5. "
You just keep on leaning...In order to play ball both buyer and seller need
to be in same ball park... At 11.5$ not even in same country.. At 8$
not even in same state... You will need to do a LOT more leaning to
get into same ballpark as a buyer...

"useful responses " You are asking top shelf price on a low shelf car.
Those that want it are limited.. Of those, how many actually have the
funds is even more limited.. Gaves you a very small market to work with..

On a positive note tho,,,, always remember this:
There is a seat for every azz and an azz for every seat....

Mebbe,, just mebbe,, you will luck out and find that one person...
Mebbe,, just mebbe,, you will win the lottery also....

If somebody offers you half what you're asking.... uhhh, take it. Just my opinion.

If you would accept $8,000, then your asking price is too high. You are losing potential buyers that won't even respond to the ad.

If I can only spend $8,000, I'm not even going to call on anything over $9k or so......

You have been watching too much Barrett-Jackson. Youll never get that much money for it.

I had a choice , absolutely perfect 72 Monaco wagon. It had a 400 CID motor, power windows, am/fm stock radio, the bi sexual tailgate , it looked and ran great, 100% rust free even. mine was as it was when it rolled off the factory. I sold it for 4800 dollars.

The Monaco has hideaway headlamps which themselves people like moreso.
