'59 Chevy 3-door wagon??

When I was around 10 - 12 yrs. old, I'd spend the summer running around in my Uncle's 'work wagon', a '59 3-door wagon!
2-drs on the pass. side, and only 1 on the drivers - kinda like the old Suburbans.
He delivered bar supplies to all the taverns in Lake County, Illinois, and I don't remember his 'shape' after we returned to the house.
Anyone got one of these?
I've never seen another!

I don't think you're going to find one of these.

The 2-door and 4-door '59 Chevy wagons would have had an identical profile, except for the location of the 'B' pillar - the 2-door wagons having longer front doors to allow for easier entry into the back seat. Certainly something like what you are talking about could be built, but it would have required interrupting the production line - something that manufacturers are not likely to do. The vehicle itself would also look rather odd, with offset B-pillars.

My guess is that what you saw was actually a regular 4-door wagon, with the left rear door possibly welded shut and/or the outside handle removed. Probably done by an outside vendor at the request of your uncle's employer.

Like this one? Don't know if it's original, but it looks good.

That's a 2-door (the tailgate doesn't count as a 'door' on older wagons, as far as terminology). What '65 2dr' said was that the left side of his uncle's work vehicle had only the driver's door, while the right side had 2 doors, making it a '3-door' wagon (+ the tailgate).

You weren't sampling your uncle's bar supplies when he was inside were you?

No - not then. [the drinkin part]
I did see some advertising that had it in there, though, but don't remember where.
Fatter-of-mact, seems it coulda been available in '60, too - just don't remember what they called it?!
Don't think it was special order - he wasn't into that.

I've been around Chevys for many, many years and I have never heard of one, but I guess anything is possible. Seeing it was your Uncle, maybe you could check with your cousins or any other family members that might have some pictures.

They're gone, and the 2 adopted kids vanished 20 yrs. ago, in their 20's.
Think I saw the brochure at a friends shop in the city, but don't go there much with the price of fuel.

Would you mind if I present the question to the Chevy board I belong to?
