I was thinking of giving one of my Vista Cruisers the sedan delivery treatment. I came across images of a 66 two-tone with most of the trim removed. I did some crude photo editing and I like where this is going. The finished product would need some beading or a slight tray effect to improve the visual appeal.

I think the demarcation between the two colors could also use some tweaking. Maybe with some striping. The body line ends on the front door, then resumes at the downturn near the rear of the rear door.

    What do you guys think?

    I like it. But!
I'd rather see you loose the back doors and fill those windows in. Can you make a sample?

The Chevy HHR panel is like that. Doors without windows or handles.

Get a 2 door car and cut out he B piler and doors and graft them in. It will look a lot better.

Much as the idea's cool, I'd rather you didn't do it with the VC you own now; it's too good, as far as I have seen. Before you do that, see if you can locate a VC that needs some work and little restoration value (such as one missing its engine and/or trans). That way, you have the 'restorable' one stay that way, and the other one, you can do whatever you want to it. I know I've voiced this opinion before (more like opened my mouth and stuffed in my size 16 gunboat), but I hope this doesn't fall on deaf ears.

Look closely at my signature picture and you will see two Vista Cruisers.

Yeah, but they both look good. I especially like the blue one. I mean, they are yours, and you're going to do whatever you want, but will you at least give my plea some serious thought?

    Sometimes easier said than done.
I am currently doing a 2dr conversion (66 Malibu Wagon) and chose a car that I could get a suitable donor (66 ElCamino) for the correct length doors, B-pillar and quarter panel sections in order to maintain a factory look. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29015&highlight=rmay
Originally I had thought about converting a Buick Sport Wagon because I liked the Vista Cruiser style roof. My conversion choices for a Buick were limited and it would have involved a lot more fabrication making it look more custom rather than the factory look I was going for.
I try to know my limitations, usually check similar builds others have done and always think about resale appeal because some day you may want to part with your build.
Whatever you choose, be creative and have fun with your build.

Sorry, not feeling the love. The whole point of the styling of the 64-67 VCs and Sport Wagons is that the C-pillar lines up with the bar between the front and side roof windows. Take away the rear quarter windows and you loose that styling feature. Make it a two door and it gets worse, as now the B-pillar doesn't line up at all.

I don't much care for the two door look either. The wheelbase is too long.

I rather like it as it is...;) I don't think the sedan delivery look would work on that car...just my humble opinion.

Believe me I love the idea of a sedan delivery conversion (I did one on a 62 Ford Ranch Wagon) BUT I don't think it's the right car for it mainly because of the VC roof. BUT having said that I firmly believe that if YOU like it then do it. it will be a cool and unique custom when you are done and if your craftsmanship is good then someday if you go to sell it then I am sure someone will love it and have to have it. Keep us up to date.

BTW I like the 2 door version better. There was no thing as a 4 door sedan delivery that I am aware of. I would use a long door from a 2 door donor myself.
