I have entered the "garage" as the rev would say by shear accident. I have just inherited a pretty mint 1980 Ford Fairmont Wagon with 80,000 miles from my grandmother who had owned it since I remember (since I was born in '80). It is all stock, and I have done nothing to it... yet. I received the car 1.) because my grandmother passed away and no one wanted her car and 2.) I needed a daily ride (after my other car blew a head gasket) that I could also haul my two little boys in. However, after running a little research online I have discovered the uniqueness of the vehicle I came by for free. I am also stoked to have a simpler engine I can actually learn about and work on myself(and teach my boys to work on). So, my daily ride has turned into a new hobby that I plan to supe up to get those frat boys in my neighborhood to stop looking down at my tailgater. Thanks for spreading some wagon love.
Man did you come to right place! We've got a dedicated crew of Fox Wagon owners, with a wealth of links and tips. Welcome aboard! You'll have to give us some specs about the car. You're granny knew a good thing. My wagon was a one-owner 'little old lady' story too. They keep them in good shape.
Thanks Stormin'. In terms of specs, I'll have to get a couple pics on here. It is stock from the Ford 200 inline 6 to the hubs to the roof rack. Unfortunately no wood, but it is the color of my alma mater in cardinal red, thus it will also bum around as a tailgater during the fall months. The only thing I have done to it so far is replace the 10 year old snow tires on the back after blowing a steel radial (the car pretty much sat for two years in a garage). The only major problems I currenly have is the 1bbl carb is not feeding the engine so well, as it stutters and sometimes dies when I step on the accelerator. The only other major problem is the Iowa winter roads managed to snip the body as both rear fenders are beginning to rust (but body is in relatively good shape since it sat in a garage when not in use). I'll have to get some pics up.
Welcome to the site. I have a red 78 Fairmont wagon with a 5.0 and 5speed out of a 90 mustang. Post up some pics of yours, we would love to see it. As for the frat boys, Those wagons make sweet sleepers. They won't know what hit'em! LOL!
All right fellas. I got my first pic up in the gallery and the garage. I only have one pic so far, but its special as it was the day I received the lil red wagon.
Cool, another fox. Those carbs are very very simple. A rebuilt kit is about $20. Stick with the original carb and rebuild it. The new stuff for sale is junk.
someone read the 'intro sticky'.?>?????....dude....i luv you !! (in a manly way).... to the garage!!....your more than welcome to use all the tools!
