Pacer wagon There's a dude here in Albuquerque who got a wagon like that and cut the back roof off it and made like a kinda convertible outta it. It would be in the vein of an Isuzu Amigo where you have a front roof but not a back. Didn't know what he did for a cover, but a 6 inches of rain a year you don't really worry about that stuff! It actually looked kinda neat, with a clean cut and nice wheels. I think the only way I'd buy a Pacer would be a wagon, they actually look pretty good when they're loaded up with options.
This is my buddy Laird's '79 Pacer. We put an older hood on it....like the lower look better. His is just the 258 AMC 6-cyl. Really fun car to cruise around in...gets TONS of looks.
Oh and if you want a southern V8 Pacer wagon...ZERO rust...here you go! http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/2305553822.html
I like the early hood much better. Didn't they have to go with the raised hood due to clearance problems with the V8?
Yes I think that's why they used the taller hood, but I know people put V8's in the older cars...you just have to rig up a small or remote air cleaner. -Mike
Yes, my hood is the same, 78-80 used the same hood. All the articles I found indicate the hood change was for the face lift and nothing to do with the 2 year V8 production. Car Craft built a 401 in 1976 for a project and it had the early hood.
