Screech!!!!! Wyoming.......not so screech................. Wait a minute.....Dewey might need another green wagon? With an interior already done like this one??
Wyoming?! Why that's right over there^...I need another wagon like a hole in my head, I can barely get one done. Good looking car however.
Looks like a nice driver and if the bidding doesn't get too much higher, she would be at a nice price too. Seems like a really good starting point for a restoration as her looks are respectable now and seemingly only exterior work is needed. Two thinks I noticed however. One of the key styling features of these cars are the hidden headlights. I thought it was odd that there were no pics of the front-end. I did get a glimpse in one pic showing the headlight doors were open. Makes me think that the vacuum mechanism for the doors is blown-out and the system was capped off to prevent a continuous vacuum leak. Also, I think the most delicate cosmetic part of these cars is the soft vinyl horn bar on the steering wheel. The one on this car looks good but than I saw what looks like a wood screw holding it on. Certainly neither are 'deal breakers' if the sale price is right, but it's good to know prior to making a purchase. Chris
Excellent point. I noticed this, too. All those photos and not a single full-on front view of the car, which you'd think would be one of the first photos someone selling a car would take and which is conspicuous by its absence. The headlight doors are open, and with the headlights not on, that can mean only one thing as you surmise. The headlight door mechanism is not working.
It's most probably a vacuum leak in the system. This could be something quite simple to remedy -- like replacing a hose -- or it could be a real pain (both to track down and to fix) involving one of several valves that are no longer available. Of course, it might be even simpler. I ran across a guy once with a mid-'70s Country Squire whose headlight covers wouldn't close. It turns out the manual vacuum release valve was open. He wasn't even aware the car had this. In any case, it shouldn't be a deal breaker on this CP, though perhaps it should have shaved a few dollars off the bids.
