Nice car, but no one is going to give him even half that price. Condition alone doesn't determine value.

I know that dealer. Has some very nice stuff - all of it mucho expensiveo. That being said, I'd bet the dealer would let that wagon go for $20k or less.......

It's very nice but not well equipped, and the price is delusional.

Stunning car and I love the colors. Too bad it is so lowly optioned. Still someone would be lucky to own it, it is like new obviously.

Absolutely beautiful wagon. Too bad they are asking more than double what it's worth. Would be a really nice one to own. Love the colors.

Is this not the same '74 Squire that has been a stock photo on the forum for some time? :anyone: Looks pretty much identical.

It would be interesting to know the story behind this wagon. How does a 41-year old wagon survive with only 1,354 miles on it?

Too high priced. By a factor of three, at least. With that few miles on it, you are going to have to replace seals throughout the car.

I am curious also. The ad says one owner but there must be more to this story. To most people (other than forum members) this is an ordinary car, not one that someone in 1974 would think to save as a collectible. It appears to have been well maintained all these years, not just stuck someplace and forgotten. Maybe owned by a Ford dealer?

Does the incredibly low mileage make it worth 3 or 4 times the value of another one in the same condition with more miles? Of course when someone does buy it the question is do they NOT drive it to maintain the value? It sure would be the rarest '74 squire but there wouldn't be much enjoyment in that IMO.

The only way I can see any vehicle with very low miles being special would be as a museum piece. If I owned it I'd drive it so that would be the end of the perfect low mileage wagon.
It seems like most low mileage cars belonged to someone who died or can no longer drive and the family just kept it for memories.

The pic of the original bill of sale says the car cost $6,918.52. FWIW, the $39,500 asking price today would be $7,771.74 back in 1974. Dollar-for-dollar, the price follows some logic, but it's no longer a new car worth that price.

I've heard stories - possibly urban legends - of cars kept at summer homes and only used when the owner is vacationing, for getting groceries, etc.

But even so, you would expect to see more mileage on a 41-year old grocery-getter.

How much mileage do you suppose Jay Leno has on his grocer-getter? :)

I also would love to know the story behind this wagon. I question when people through out the low miles thing, however, I do know someone in Indiana who has a building full of cars all under 10,000 miles. If I bought it I would drive The wheels off it.
