I would disagree 100%. They are most assuredly in demand. If they were not, why the high prices across the board??? Someone somewhere is selling cars for the money, that's a fact. Seems like every car guy I know wants a wagon of some sort. The '50s and '60s wagons are hot hot hot! The '70s and '80s wagons are bringing good money, and the last GM wagons can hardly BE found for sale around here, certainly.

What high prices across the board? Where's your evidence? Asking prices are not selling prices. When and if this Le Baron sells, we will probably never know what it sold for.

Inaccurate by whose definition? I'm not defending them, but they are no less legitimate an opinion about prices than anyone else. I was looking at the May/June 2015 issue.

Wouldn't any sane person interested in this car rather pay $3,000 for it instead of $7,000?

I can see paying this kind of money for a really nice 50s or 60s wagon, but not one from 1981. That's been my thought for years and I'm sticking with it. :)

Look at any place you'll find a wagon ad, including here, and see for yourself. Are they getting the asking prices? Who knows? This applies to ANY wagon advertised, unless the seller and/or the buyer divulge what was paid. Point is, the prices have essentially doubled, and some tripled, for various wagons in NICE shape (not builders) over the past two years, especially.

Of course! But you would have to convince the seller that's a reasonable price first. Since he's asking $9,500, I think this might be a problem.

But you never know if you don't try. Offer him or any seller a reasonable price, backed up with evidence of what similar vehicles are selling for, and see what he says. The worst he can do is say no. Six months later, when he's still seeing the car in his driveway every morning and wondering if it will ever go away, he might change his mind.

Unless you really, really, really want a particular car, and you have to have it right now, there is no reason to overpay for it.

Rarity alone does not equal value. Condition alone does not equal value. The third leg of that stool is desirability. If there's no demand for a particular car, and early '80s LeBaron station wagons are certainly not in high demand, the car will not command a premium price no matter how rare, beautiful, and well-kept it is. Some sellers have to learn this the hard way.

Just saw this car at the Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle...

I was just as the Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, PA and saw this car. It was the "Cars For Sale" area and had a "make an offer" sign on it. It was nice but not $15,000 nice (the original asking price on Ebay). If someone got it for $7,500 it would be a reasonably good deal.
