'59 Chevys are getting quite popular these days, so hoarders with one sitting in the weeds are now starting to see the dollar signs. Other than a wagon, this is the model I'd like to come across......
I've always like the 59 Chevy body style. Can't comment on the wagon because Mr Craig won't let me in!
Take a look at this. I believe it holds the record for amount of chrome... https://www.google.com/search?q=195....com%2F1958-oldsmobile-dynamic-88.htm;400;232
I love all of the 1959 cars, Chevrolet is the one I remember from new. A neighbor had a gold and white loaded Chevy wagon, and my Uncle Norman had the twin of it around 1960 or so. I'd love to see someone restore this wagon to original, engine and all. I realize the six is anemic, but it's a part of history that deserves to be preserved. I love the flat top Sport Sedans, we had use of a '59 Pontiac Catalina flat top for a couple of years.
My Aunt had a '59 Impala two-door hardtop in the same color combo as the copper car above - beautiful car! It had a 283 auto, air, and was pretty-well loaded up from new. She ordered it in February 1959 and had it eight weeks later. One night in 1961, it was parked at her apartment in Colorado. Next morning, she found the car right where she left it - minus engine and transmission! Someone carted that off - along with her factory spinner caps - overnight. I love the '59 and '60 Chevys. Great lines, and fins you could kill someone with, if you decided to drive backwards on the sidewalk!
Yow, what an ugly story! I hope the insurance company fixed her car! The southern side of my family, Cousin Bubba had a white '59 Sport Coupe with red interior, he had an accident of some sort with it, it was covered in his yard for a while, don't know where it went. An aunt of mine had a black with white top '60 Impala sedan for a while. '60 was a well styled car too.
Friend had 59 Bel Air 235 six with three on tree. Surprised me how well it drove in town and on freeway. Not sluggish like I expected.
Cool car and boy does that interior look inviting! Perfect to pick up your date in. "Hold on there Babe. Let me toss this scrap metal in the back and slide my plywood over for you."
