It's sad when we are controlled by laws to protect us from ourselves. :banghead3: So a state that is deep in debt can buy a car then have it crushed for a small return? What are they drinking?
He'll find out that state program has some tough fire ringed hoops to jump through and is usually out of money in March of every year. The program also only pays 1000 for a qualifying car unless you can prove you're dirt poor and they add another $500. I was going to use the program to get rid of my 91 Grand Marquis sedan when it needed a new $400 one year only computer plus a bunch of nitpicky stuff like window regulators, etc. I found out in July that money wouldn't be there until the next year and my car wouldn't qualify for the program after another month since it would have been on non-op registration for too long. Sold the car for $700 and saw the buyer try to flip it on craigslist with 24" wheels after he took a month to get it past the smog nazis.
Yep you're right. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36653&highlight=1991 As new add says bidder did not go through with deal. Even if that "sell to the state" is b.s., it seems he does not want to see the car destroyed.
