Yeah, there comes a point where it just isn't worth the time and effort to restore a vehicle with extensive rust damage. Perhaps it might be worthwhile if it has sentimental value, or if it is a one-off or otherwise highly desirable.

This one might have some good parts on it, though.

This one is done unfortunately . I did find some humor in the sellers description though when it mentions, "daily driver or...":rofl2:

Such a shame. Although I don't need it, I wouldn't mind getting the Villager woodgrain trim pieces, just to have extras. I'm sure I could find some other parts too. Too bad it's too far away...

Yup. All of the glass, along with many other parts will also work on a 72-76 Torino, and 77 LTD II wagon.

What a shame... such a rare car. Now just a hunk of rust, beyond repair.

    Another one bites the dust.

If you'd ever seen the roads in the Detroit area, you'd understand how this would be a suitable daily driver there.

As noted, it does have some usable parts. I wouldn't mind a donor for my Montego, but it's too far for me, too. It's also priced a bit too high in my opinion, especially as there doesn't seem to be much by way of usable sheet metal. I could use an engine, but "rebuilt at some point" doesn't generate a lot of faith in its reliability.

Snow, slush, and salt are not a cars best friend. I've seen cars only a few years old in Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, and Michigan worse than that. I once bought a 1956 Buick two-door that looked like a 4-door with the rear doors missing it was rusted so badly. This was in the early 60's in Illinois. My boss bought it new and mostly drove it around Peoria. Other wise it was a nice car.
Wonder if being near a lake had anything to do with it?

One of my fellow grantorinosport.org members enquired about this wagon, and was told he'd take $600. I'd be all over this, if it were closer.

And for the parts you get........ are they really worth $850 or $600 as mentioned for what is left of the parts, + $ and time getting it home?.... don't see any of the 'I pay $2k for a derby car" guy going after this crust bucket..... this car would loose a demo with a shopping cart at Wallmart IMO!:biglaugh:
