Hello from Southern Ohio/ Northeastern KY ( have residence in both places) I have a 63 Ranch Wagon that is my favorite classic. We also have a 62 Galaxie 500 XL Club Victoria, a 65 Ford Galaxie/LTD and a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500. My Ranch Wagon came out of Oklahoma from ebay. The seller did not mention that the front floor pan was rusted all the way through. Fortunately, I have found a man that has worked on classic cars for 60 years and is meticulous. He began when he was 13. The floor pan is now repaired, the engine is overhauled. Next is the paint. The body is good, with just a few rust bubbles. If anyone knows where I could find 2 pieces of trim on the tailgate, one the lower strip on the tailgate, the other for the driver's side tail light, I would be very thankful. Our other cars are very well kept and tip top, but the wagon has captured my imagination and is a keeper. Anyone else have a 63 Ranch Wagon? I am looking forward to exploring this forum.
Welcome Dave, you'll find lots of guys with models from the same classy period. Enjoy! and don't forget, we diet on Pics!
Thanks Norman and Senri Thanks Stormin' Norman and Senri for the welcome. I will work on pictures. I am technologically challenged, but willing to learn and have a few family members that may be able to help me with the process. My wife and I do have fun with the classics. Our thinking process is we would rather have 4 classics and switch off driving them than to buy another new car or two. Since we don't purchase muscle cars and break the bank account, it seems to work out although some of our family members think we are nuts. (Of course they don't own any classics and don't understand the enjoyment and pleasure that they give.) Thanks again. It was great to hear from you!
Hey Dave, After doing the bottom-up resto on my Squire, I kick my butt for not having a camera from the beginning. I consider it TOOL NUMBER ONE. I was really organised doing this over two years, and there were some brackets and fasteners that still confuse me. It's like the time I took my dad's 1950's Rollex apart (I was 8 years old) and got it back together. I was so proud of myself that when dad got home, I ran up and told him I fixed his watch (I didn't know it was self-winding... ) ... "And dad, I've got parts left over!" Couldn't sit for a week, but I can't recall how many times my dad and I laughed at that moment over the years. Anyway, some parts just don't show up in the shop manuals, and I wasted hours and hours trying to find pics on the web or looking at them and where they went. But it runs just fine. These guys rode my butt every chance they got. Then I got one! Sounds like an AA meeting, but my car-life changed to super-easy! Walmart have some cheapy digitals at around $20 (for kids), cause you don't want a $1,500 Pentax digital full of grease. We got a Canon for about $150 with the bigger memory. The bigger memory lets you take short videos too.
Welcome to our nut house. Since Senri beat me to my usual picture avatar,I will wait patiently for 30 sec to see pictures. Great line up of kars
Dave!! thats an impressive lineup my friend (nice to know its not just me thats addicted) I will wait ...well...i'll try.....but I need pics !!!!
Addiction Hello Rev and Roadking, It was kind of you to welcome me. You are correct, Rev, I am addicted. I will post pictures as soon as I get some help in mastering how to do it, hopefully from my sister-in-law. Do you just want pictures of the Ranch Wagon or is there also an interest in the others? Dave
Welcome Dave. Glad to have another Ford/wagon nut. These buggers are getting popular again.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
Popular Thanks, tbirdsps. I am amazed that there are so many others crazy about station wagons. I am constantly searching for 1960-1964 Ford Wagons. A few pop up occasionally, usually in not too good of shape. It seems to be very difficult to find the Ranch Wagons from this time period. I have looked at the classic car price guides and am not sure they are reflective of reality as far as pricing goes. It was great to hear from you. With so many folks interested in wagons, it would be terrific to have a get together sometime, maybe in different regions. Our local small town has a classic car show at McDonalds on the last Saturday of the month. The last time I went there were 300 classics there. It would be great to see 300 station wagons lined up wouldn't it? Warm regards, Dave
HandyAndy and I kind of had that experience today. He's got two Fairmont wagons, and I drove up behind his parked wagons! His neighbour always nags about parking spots. As I was driving up, I wondered what she'd say. "And another one!!!" So much for good neighbours without good fences. But it was nice to see all 3 there. I wonder what they thought of mine, since it was built in Mexico. I cussed it English everytime I hit my shins on the hitch. Must've picked up a little of the Lingo. Gas prices are probably going to make a lot of car meets more local I think. Heck of an idea though.
Pictures are here! Today, we took photos of one of the vehicles I told you about - the 1965 Ford Galaxie. I look forward to hearing what you think. I'll post pics of the other cars as soon as possible. Dave
