Given it's shown, I guess we can assume it was optional.

It does show the passenger side, but I wasn't sure about the driver side. There is no picture of it. So far, in all of our conversations, he seems to be honest and forthcoming with all of his answers to my questions.

I haven't made an offer, and not sure I will. I do wonder if the car could be bought for less than $5,000. Any opinions?

It looks like a great Wagon! If you like it I would offer him 5K and be willing to go up to his asking price. You do not see many that nice...

If I really wanted it, I'd contact the seller and ask for more info. On its face, this looks like a very appealing deal for the money. Ads been up for two weeks - a motivated owner should be ready to deal.

I do not think the driver's side recline was available, but the passenger side was standard as part of this interior package. Power on both sides was a factory option, as was driver's side only. I do not think you could get a power passenger seat unless you got the power driver's side, although why anyone would want the passenger side powered but not the driver's, I cannot fathom.

Trust me, I've asked a lot of questions. It was my questions that prompted him to update his ad and include the options list.

This car looks pretty nice. And from the pictures, " HAD " the rear jump-
seats at one time. Those 2 factory-looking carpet holes is where the
hardware went for the seats. BUT, I always get a little uncomfortable
when a car has the wrong hub caps. I mean where the heck are they?
And the Ford ones just look wrong and make me question other stuff
    about the car. Just sayin'.......

Price drop to $5700 is a good sign as to a motivated seller. :yup: This a really nice Colony Park for the price.

This Mercury CP still looks like a great value as listed - good lucking finding anything comparable at around $5000. :D

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to imagine how over 37 years the original hubcaps could have gotten damaged, lost, or stolen. All styles of the original wheel covers for this car are fairly plentifully available and can generally be found at reasonably prices. Check ebay and the major swap meets.

If my memory serves, me the jump seats on '78 models were actually removable to increase the under-floor storage space. It's possible this feature was introduced on the '77 model. The upshot is that, while I'm sure you're aware that it's quite possible to add the DFRS, the installation might be a very simple process. The trick will be locating a set.

By the way, I wouldn't make book on the performance figures stated. In particular, I'm sure you could get better than 10.4 mpg on the highway. I was able to get 12 or a bit better with my '75 CS years ago by keeping the speed below 80.

I don't think $5700 is unreasonable, assuming -- as always -- there's no significant rust.

Re the DFRS, I was speaking off the top of my head. I should have known better. Now that I've pulled out my '77 & '78 Ford wagon brochures, I see that only the bottom cushions were removable, and that there's no evidence at all that this feature was available in '77. So to put them in this car will be more than just a matter of clamping them in. It will probably be more difficult to find the seats than it will be to bolt them in.
