Seller says "price to be determined". What are the determining factors?

It has wear, sure - all the more for someone eager to fix up. Nice opportunity for someone to restore.

A great opportunity if the price is right.

    Things to consider:

A NOS replacement for the dented grille will be expensive.

It will also be expensive to restore the dash pad to an authentically original appearance.

There was no passenger door mirror available as a factory option. It was available only as a dealer-installed accessory. I can't tell from the photo, but it appears that what is on the car now may be an aftermarket generic type, and the placement, though better for visibility, may interfere with operation of the vent window.

It looks like both tail light lenses need to be replaced. Amazingly, these do seem to be available on ebay.

I wonder why the seller doesn't jump-start the car or replace the battery so as to check the condition of the drive train.

It also appears there was enough juice for the lights. I wonder if "battery drain" is the correct diagnosis.

The condition of the headliner and seats are significant pluses. The whitewalls and wheel covers are not, as whitewall tires are readily available in sizes to fit this car, as are original wheel covers.

Anyone considering this car will be well advised to carefully check the frame and the drivetrain prior to making an offer. Any other course will be a roll of the dice -- unless the price is rock bottom.

I don't see this as a car that's a good candidate for being flipped. It's a project car for someone who really appreciates the model (I'm a '70 guy; '69 comes in at a close second).

It looks like a pretty solid wagon. Since it is a life long So Cal car (judging by the plates and location), it should not have significant rust issues. The problem areas are that it is a used 45 year old vehicle that will need restoration. Hopefully that fact is taken into consideration with the price. It would also be nice to know if it has AC, 3rd row jump seats, and if the motor has hardened valve seats.

If you look closely at the photo. You can see "AC" on the control levers just above the gear selector.

Thanks Professor, I thought it did but could not read the small print. Again, the seller should have listed the options.

Is that the ignition switch I see below the dash line? Pretty neat (creative) place to put it, if it is. (Pardon my ignorance on Ford nuances). :)

The lights were never on. What you see, is coming from the reflector
part of the tail-lights. It's inside the housing. Hope this helps!

I don't believe the engine would have had hardened valve seats from the factory. I don't think this feature came about until they introduced the catalytic converter and started phasing out leaded gasoline.

Yes, that's the ignition switch. There was a similar "pod" to the left of the steering wheel that held the headlight switch. This was the only year for that ignition switch arrangement; it was moved to the column in 1970.

I took a look at the CL listing after you called me on Wednesday. I wasn't particularly impressed with it from the pics. Also was wondering if I would have been able to drive it ("needs battery").

I believe it was early to mid-70's they started doing the induction-hardening. I had a '75 Torino Elite that had "hardened" seats. After 75,000 miles, they looked as bad as any other used engine I've pulled apart.

To the best of my knowledge, the move from the dash to the column was true for all of the Ford vehicles in '70. The columns were larger in diameter to accommodate the change, so there can be issues if trying to swap columns between the two years. Dash harnesses are most likely different between '69 and '70 as a result as well.
