I'd ditch the chrome trailer wheels and go with a set of aluminum slotted wheels, like a US Mag or such.

I never liked Pintos in the day. Of course they had a stigma attached by going boom went hit from behind.

I really like them now, especially this one.

Sorry, if I'm going to invest pretty good money into a 'collector wagon', it won't be a Pinto. Just my personal choice. Now, if there was a 'daily driver' quality one around for a reasonable price, I would consider that route.........

I'd drive it, would be a great short trip commuter. But I'd go for this in a mag.......

Oh and BTW, the wagons were not the "blow up in flames", just the hatchbacks.

He doesn't mention whether it's been restored or it's all original. With only 33K on it, it very well may be original. Years ago I had a '72 Pinto hatchback and had a lot of fun with it. This is a cool little wagon.

Love pintos. If whatever they did to screw up the suspension is reversible it would make a nice little econo-wagon. I do prefer a manual with the 4cyl though.

I thought that was the Corvairs ?
I'll admit this is a nice looking little wagon. But like others, I never cared for Pintos when in the show room.... Or the week after when they began to rust.

Pintos are not any more prone to rear fires caused by collision than anything else. The only reason the early cars had a problem at all was that the rear bumper bolts protruded a bit; and if the car were hit hard enough, the bolts COULD puncture the tank. Which in and of itself does not cause a fire! A spark or other exterior cause would be needed to start the fire. I honestly can NOT recall ever seeing a burned Pinto in a scrap yard. EVER! Like the '70s GM truck tank nonsense, the Pinto story took on a life of its own, and refuses to die.

Look at the Crown Victoria cop car fiasco. Sure, if you run into a sitting Crown Vic at a speed over 55 mph, the fuel tank MIGHT just catch fire!

That's not quite the story I remember, Patrick.
I thought it was the gas tank being pushed forward into the rear axle housing and splitting open. This fix was a plastic shield between the gas tank and the pumpkin.

In any case, Ford apparently did a 'cost-benefit analysis' on the cost of the parts/labor to fix the issue vs. the cost to settle potential lawsuits. They didn't factor in the effect of the negative publicity. OOPS!

Take off the cheesy chrome wheels and get something better. Level it and lower it a bit. 2.3L turbo with a T-5 and there you have it. But yeah, not $6900 cool.
