It's a horrible attempt to give it a "patina". I can't wait for this trend to end.

Stupid idea to begin with, and then they screw up their attempt to 'engineer' the patina. It looks exactly like what they did to it - taking a wheel to various parts of the body. If you look at actual patina, there's a certain pattern to most of it, places where the paint would wear off faster, like the tops of the fenders, edges of the roof, etc. Seems as though these guys didn't think of that. Should have just LEFT IT ALONE.

Seen this one for sale off-and-on several times by different owners and locations over the past few years between eBay and other sites. It's been at this particular place for quite some time. Paint's been this way since the first time I saw it. Anyway, could have done a much better job at fake patina with just a few Scotchbrite pads!

Hopefully someone buys it, rips the surfboard off the roof and gives it a paint job.

Patina - v. Old Latin orig. Needs Paint. Ex: That Ford wagon has fake patina written all over it, paint the damn thing already! Alternate usage: "fauxtina", meaning "fake" or "engineered" patina. A lie.

That doesn't even look like "patina". It just looks like some goober jabbed at it with a 3M stripper wheel. :slap:
