I like this old 66. The interior especially. Just do not know much about them. Owner said he has had it for over 25 years. He had new rear quarters installed. I was hoping it was all original body wise. Some rust but not bad was told. Small tranny leak, vinyl top has some rust underneath, wipers not working, gas guage was not sure of.AC not working, probably more issues. Not been driven for a while on a regular basis ,but does run good and drive. It is a 6 hour drive for me , so not to sure on what to do. 4500 to start off with ? I would be removing the plow , lowering it and making it a driver. 3,500 sounds better but he said no way. Maybe Its worth more . What do you guys think ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/281397684968?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
I've heard this 'SUPER Wagoneer' version is a very rare duck. Got the deluxe interior package with the floor console and bucket seats.
Yep that interior is a real plus for me. Six hour drive is just to far to of a drive to check it out. I feel like I would be taking a big risk placing a 4500 bid. If it was only a 2 hour drive I would making the trip asap.
I love those old wagoneers and Cherokees> Interior looks nice and clean. If the motor was rebuilt 300 miles ago I would offer at least 4000K.
Motor rebuilt 3000 miles ago. With that low milage I wonder why? Looks nice. looks clean. Good resale and lots of people like them down here. Too far away. No further comment.
We had one years ago. Pros: Ran nice, good visibility, seldom seen now where we live at least. Mine ended up being used by the next owner as a hunting vehicle and they beat the crap out of it for many years out in the mountains and mechanically it was great, but they had to keep welding pieces of metal on the body as holes emerged that let the weather in. We liked the look, the functionality was good, nice interior, a good people mover and a reasonable tow vehicle. When it was clean and shiny it looked great and people would comment on it. Could never get that sucker stuck in snow or mud - it always pulled its way through if you took your time. Cons of ours: GAS MILEAGE - non- existant. Seldom got better than 12 mpg. Very noisy inside - it is a big box and they get quite noisy with rattles and squeaks and groans, fix two or three and more would pop up. A constant battle. Lift gate leaked. Doors rattled. A lot depending on road conditions. But the biggest issue was rust. These seemed to start rusting as they were coming down the assembly line and never stopped. I saw many of these over the years (same style, not this particular option package) and the few times I saw one that did not have visible rust after a bit more looking it was always there. In floors, fenders, quarters, around windshield, around tailgate, spare tire well, above the gas tank. Heater/defrost had a tough time keeping up with keeping that big box warm and so many windows clear enough to see out of if it was raining or snowing or just plain cold out. Wind noise was constant, you learned to ignore it pretty quickly.
They used that grill a lot! I like the old school small one. Tho I am biased cause my grandfather always had on he plowed snow with. it was bad azz!
Offer $3500 if you have to keep the hubcaps or $4500 and he keeps them and you never have to look at them again.
I told him end the auction and I would make the drive with 3500 cash. He laughed. Someone might bid, never know. Not me though.
