V6 engine and loaded up. Nice looking in and out. http://tricities.craigslist.org/cto/4636733479.html
This is an awfully pretty car. I wish there was a picture of the engine. Some people don't know the difference between a V6 and an inline 6, both of which were available on this car. Are these worth $4500 now? I had a chance to get one for $800 about 3 years ago, but I was working on getting another car at the time. Should I kick myself?
Seems a little steep to me, but I am not sure. I know it is a fairly rare car. We had a '83 Thunderbird with the 3.8L V6. Seemed to have problems with oil pressure and was told it was common, but may have been a poorly maintained car. I know that the I6 is a bullet proof engine. This one may very well have the V6, but could be the I6. ??
How 'bout that. I didn't think you could get the inline in the shovel noses at all. Was 83 the last year? mike
Just checked the brochure. Appears the straight 6 was dropped for '84. Brochure indicates the 3.8 V6 was standard in the wagons. Surprisingly, the standard engine in the sedans was the 2.3 4-cylinder. I know I've never seen one of these LTD's with the 4. There was a special 'LX' model of the LTD that had the Mustang 5.0 V8, and also police model with it, but I'm not sure you could even order a wagon with it (even though in prior years you could get a Fairmont wagon with a V8 - same basic vehicle). I believe there was also a Mercury Marquis version of the 'LX', but I don't remember what it was called.
