Thanks everyone for the kind words. I got into it a little deeper today. So far so good. I ripped the rear carpets out in front of the rear seat. I real common area to rust out,got lucky no holes ,lots of surface rust I vacuumed out. I can't believe this old rotten stuff was still there and no one ever took it out. It was toast. Then I went for the spare tire area. This was scary, but after removing the tire and a bunch of old rags and towels that were wrapped around the jack parts I was amazed that there were no major rust thru areas. Lots of dirt and surface rust though. Next I will be ripping all the carpet out and cleaning it good. Maybe i should start a new thread here on my project.

Sounds really good so far. Amazing with the old carpet, rags, and things there isn't more rust. Must have been stored fairly dry.
On my 55 Chevy there were two layers of 3/4" plywood painted white screwed down behind the rear seat also hiding the spare tire well. This all had black shag carpet over it stapled down. It appeared okay from under but I feared the worse. I was also amazed how clean it was. Ya just never know.
Check the front area on each side near the kick panels. Another area where mud and water get from shoes and a leaky windshield.

Make sure some Dymat is on your interior 'to do' list. Will quiet up that wagon considerably.

Or Lowes, Home Depot, etc silver bubble wrap. Cheaper, easy to find, and works.
    I'm not cheap...just thrifty!

Great ideas ^^^ especially since it appears this beast has cherry bomb for mufflers. I drove it in town today, first real drive to get the title and plates. Im going to run some old 63 plates on it. I have a small collection of Ohio plates. It drove straight, stopped decent, plenty of power, tranny shifted ok (whew) that was a relief . Little rough running at take off, carb need a rebuild.
