86k miles and loaded up for just $5900! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima Seems like a great deal! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1976-OLDSMOBILE-CUSTOM-CRUISER-/331181370212?_trksid=p2054897.l4275
That is a fantastic looking clamshell, at a killer price too. I would be going after this one if I hadn't already bought one recently. This seems like a good one to get and the rust spots don't seem too daunting either. Given the mileage however I would assume it's time to replace the timing chain, but otherwise she looks like it's ready to enjoy! Chris
I just super sized some of the pics and I can better see now how faded the paint is on the top surfaces. I'm wondering if the paint has been buffed down to the primer in places and it's time for a respray now. The carpet looks pretty faded and worn in places but that isn't a biggie. The car mounted cell phone has to go and the aftermarket speakers in the front doors leaves me wondering what radio is in the dash. I'm still thinking this is a good price but not quite as rockin as I first thought.
Back bumper is junk. If the outside has holes the inside is worse. You get into that rust (coming from the inside out) over the 1/4 and its gonna be ugly. There's more there than you can see. Nice but overpriced project.
This car was in Michigan and New Jersey for 30 years so while by all appearances it's a very nice car I wouldn't pull the trigger with out an in person inspection of the rust. Just my 2 cents.
Bad part about it is with the fender skirts and 1/4 design and that double steel 1/4 panel, its very tight. It condensates in there and if not oiled/rustproofed it surface rusts in there and drops down to the very limited space in between the panels and holds moisture.
