Fannie, I got a couple new tools with Lithium ION batteries, like the second set that he used in that car. You can charge them up before they grind to a halt. If you have to have battery-operated tools, that's the type to get. They last longer too between charges. And try to get 12 volt tools, so you can run them off a car-battery when you can't find a new one on the shelf. I wonder how many days or miles it can run on one charge for normal driving.
THIS is an impressive video to me! I had NO idea that a plug in could have that kind of immediate torque. Thanks for this info, Steve.....I am absolutely amazed by it. I have been knocking electric cars from the git-go. I may have to reconsider my thinking.
Yup. The torque curve for an electric motor is nearly a straight line. The bottom line is how much juice your batteries can put out and for how long. A highly specialized battery was developed for GM, but after closing their electric vehicle program, they sold the patent to Chevron. WTH???? The petroleum industry would rather everyone believe that electric vehicles are about as exciting as golf carts. Now, this is an exciting car: http://www.teslamotors.com/
The reason its not exciting is the speed and power of a electric motor are only limited by the amount of juice you can pump into them with little effect on life or performance. [as of now we can build motors so big n powerful, we can't produce enough juice for them.] Combustion engines are not like that, even with unlimited budgets. A top fuel electric powered car will break records all day long or match said times easy. While a nitro funny car will rarely make the same run twice and has to be rebuild ever 1/4mi Why gas engines are more fun. electric is to perfect / precise
I wonder how hard it would be to build? More info. Now all I need is a wagon. http://electricandhybridcars.com/index.php/pages/worldsfastestcar.html
electrifyingly shocking I'd hate to be the poor sucker who has to roll a quarter mile of extension cord up after every run.
I use the straight Lithium tools until they stop, but I always have a charged up spare for each tool. The lithium Ion tools always get recharged after each 'run'.
thats freekin cool Steve cept for the part where they put the equivelent of a 460 Ford worth of weight in the trunk
