Hello all, new to the site but have had LOTS of wagons. I am a "reborn" wagon guy as I use to do very bad things to them. Now I collect them. I just bought this 1974 Buick Estate Wagon with 51,000 original miles, still has all the original paint and body panels. Interior is almost perfect and is a 6 passenger wagon. I really want a 76 Caprice Estate Woodgrain wagon but this will do for now. I just ordered Torque Thrust II's for it, other than wheels it will remain stock. Let me know what you think of it

    :Welcome:
Great looking wagon! Where did you find it?
You're looking for a '76 Caprice Estate? That's the model, also a 6 passenger, I grew up with in CNY. Take good care of your Buick!

A little biased.... a beautiful, unmolested and original Buick.

Why is it that 74's are so hard to find?

That seems to be true, last yr before catalyst equipped US spec cars. Big bumpers a lot of people don't like?

:wow: :Welcome: Thats a massive ride!, and great lookin!

Might be hard to find a 74, low production due to the Oil embargo around 73-74?

    It's humongous.:)
I heard those have an in-flight refueling pod so you can top the tank off after you get them up to speed with a full load. You'd never even get it rolling with a full tank from a stop otherwise.
Either your air cleaner lid is on backwards or it's for a car going in the opposite direction.

I should have told the whole story on how I ended up with it.. Anyway, I found this car 7 years ago. It was at a local repair shop about 15 miles from my house. I stopped and asked about it and the mechanic gave me the ladies name who owned it. I contacted her and she said the car would never be for sale. It was going to stay in her family. So I left it at that. I seen it one or two more times in the next couple years and then nothing for the last three years. I figured the old lady passed away and one of the local derby guys ended up with it. So I am cruising craigslist and what do I find? The wagon, I call and its a younger guy and I strike a deal right over the phone with him since I know the wagon. Apparently he did some work on the ladies house and in conversation he told her he needed a car for his daughter, so she sold him the wagon. He took the car home to show his daughter and she informed him she would continue to walk to school. LOL, The car had 200 miles put on it in the 7 years since I seen it. Basically it went back and forth to the reapir shop for 3 month oil changes. It needs the carb rebuilt, blower motor is a little noisy and thats about it, besides the rear filler panel between bumper and tailgate, which I have already bought. The "locals" have already been trying to buy it up for the unthinkable. But, that will not happen, these cars are getting very rare and especially in this condition. Thanks for all the compliments guys

Thanks for sharing that story.... I remember an ad here on the board from somebody looking for a '74 (only) Buick EW.... Always thought of it when I stumbled upon one for sale, but that didn't happen much over the years during my daily searches for 71-76 EW's and parts.
