My dad's Toyota truck is smoking first started. White smoke, or extreme amounts of condensation. It kinda tapers off, but for a long time, it does this. After it gets more warmed up, it'll stop when driving, excpet it'll puff when you let off the gas to shift. Ideas? It's throwing a CEL, too. 1995 T100 2WD for refrence.
No, the coolant res is rather full, and it's very green. No water in the oil so far... My theory is that the HG is just starting to go, a small leak, and in a few days, it'll go "Poof!" and the magic white smoke will start escaping, and it'll start overheating. The temp needle will creep up, get a little hot, then go back down to normal, right about the time it stops smoking.
Not mine, so honestly I don't care. It's going in tomorrow to get checked out, probably going to cost a fortune.
Haha, I was (almost) correct. Bad O2 sensor, I'm going to either replace it tomorrow or Friday, and make a few bucks.
Wow... you learn something new everyday. I always thought white smoke meant a head gasket. How much is an o2 sensor?
No idea. I know that Dad's gettin it tomorrow, and i'll probably take a shot at installing it later, or Friday. Depends on if it's raining or not, actually, since it's just too damn cold to do any kind of meaningful work when it's raining here.
