Back in June I posted a thread over in the "Parts Wanted" section. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9608 Our customer wanted to put his wagon back together. Of course his insurance company totalled the car so he had to buy it back and was on his own for the repairs. Well, after a couple months we finally located a used quarter for him. Here's a set of photos showing what was involved. Original damage How it looked after a rough out to make driveable until we found parts The used section Old outer panel removed On frame rack to pull inner structure back to specs before attaching new panel.
Part 2 Inner structure (front view) Inner structure from rear New panel test fit New panel trimmed and cleaned up New panel installed
Part 3 Out of the paint shop Painted and assembled Of course our bodyman had to have a little fun but not to worry, the owner will get it back with the correct nameplate installed and Mr Toad removed
wo_jojo, He'll probably want to keep the ToadMasher lettering as a warning for other toads who drive with their eyes closed. I would. Fine work and picumentary. Thanks.
Didn't realize you worked at a body shop, wo jojo. I'm a damage appraiser myself. Very good work. Did you use sturctural adhesive near the woodgrain edge? That's amazing you didn't have to replace the woodgrain.
Small world. I'm a damage appraiser too. Actually, he used structural adhesive at all the seams. The most amazing thing about the woodgrain wasn't that we were able to save it, but that the wrecking yard didn't destroy it on the way here. We HAD to save it, not available. Incredibly enough, it almost matches the door. The "Toadmasher" emblem was our bodymans idea.
