Hey all. I am a HUGE Wagon fan. I have owned many wagons from many years. Chevy, Fords, Olds and even a Saturn. sadly I do not own one anymore, but one never knows the future. These days, wagons have really gotten popular and the prices are going up and up. I still hope that one day to get into my possession my illusive White Buffalo of the station wagon world. A 69 Malibu Wagon. Oh how I have wanted one of those for so many years. Now that they are about the most high dollar classic wagons. I doubt that I will ever get one. I have also transformed my love for wagons into my other love. Model cars. I have a few model projects I am working on, but there is not allot of wagon model kits. But with their popularity. There are more coming to market these days and also in the aftermarket part of that hobby. I own one of these said aftermarket companies and I am also jumping into the scale model wagon market. My first one. Yep you guessed it. The 69 Chevelle/Malibu wagon. I had a few cool wagons but the one that I really loved but ended in a very sad story, was my 68 Cutlass wagon. No it was not a Vista Cruiser. It was a Cutlass. It was shorter like the Chevelle wagon. Also had the flat roof like the Chevelle. Was the closest to a Chevelle wagon I ever got. Man it was cool. I loved it and would still have it today. But one Friday in Feb. 2000. I was tired coming home from working a 60 hour week. Fell asleep and went through a red light. Thanks goodness no one was killed or even hurt. But my Cutlass was. Sad thing is I never got a photo of the car. Today I have a 78 Chevy 3/4 ton pick up with a 454. Very nice shape and that is my daily driver. My project car is a 71 Camaro I have owned for 17 years now. I brought my only kid/daughter home from the hospital in it, and now it is a project we are doing together. She said that I am not allowed to ever sell it. So I would have to get rid of the truck to get another wagon. I just might do it. I really want a wagon again. Well that is just about me in a nutshell. So I think I will hang out for a wile. Thanks Matt Conte
to the forum Matt, I was just checking out an auto parts dealer in your area, Desert Vallet Auto Parts(thanks JOE), hoping to find 1/4 panels for my wagon. Anyway, sounds like it's just a matter of time before you get your next wagon...rumor has it some of these guys are good at spending other peoples money...I mean finding you that perfect wagon.
I know that place quite well. As a matter of fact. The wagon that is my avatar is sitting in the DVAP yard. I was shocked sad to see it there. It was in very nice condition when I reluctantly sold it back in 98. It still had the tires that I put on it new. They did not look that wore out. So it was not on the road for long after I sold it. What was left of it. I could tell that it was not wrecked. I just did not get it. The weird thing is when I walked into that yard that day. I "Felt" that car there. Something took me right to it. I was thinking I was going to see it there. It was one of those cars that you really regret selling. I did not need to at the time. I was just board with it. Wanted to get something else at the time. Other then that. I have done a bit of business over the years with DVAP. They always did me good. If you are ever in Phoenix. It is a "Must See". Matt
2 times in one week....i get to say ......WelcomeMat thats was pretty fine intro for a non wagon holder you sir are more than to play in the sand box and like Fannie said...be careful what you wish for...
Very cool that you have the talent and ability to create a scale model Chevelle wagon body. Now, would you mind making some 1/18 scale wagon bodies that can be put on 1/18 scale coupe chassis please? A 67 Belvedere II wagon body for the Highway 61 1/18 scale Belvedere/Satellite/GTX would be a nice start, and maybe a Vista Cruiser body for their 66-67 Olds 4-4-2.
