Welcome to the forum, Map. Sounds like you've got one heck of a collection. I'd love to see a pic of the '66 Hertz Mustang.
Thanks Guy! Stormin' Norman, easy it just bolts in. http://rides.webshots.com/album/151463200moLeEH snooterbuckets My Hertz has been buried in storage since 1990 i think it's there somewhere. Mike
Thanks Guys Stormin' Norman It's a basic bolt into a pinto. Pinto album >> http://rides.webshots.com/album/151463200moLeEH snooterbuckets The Hertz is buried in storage since 1990 i think it's still there. We also have 77 Pinto wagon on the back burner for a 2.3 turbo swap, the engine combo from the 86RS turbo Capri will be going into the pinto wagon. The pinto is 500lb lighter than the Capri, last outing with the Capri it went a 11.94 117.0 11.94 Pass >> http://good-times.webshots.com/video/3006806170066453426RnbMby Mike
The Capri is a FOX chassis and yes it's interkooled. Before the new ECU (Mircosqurit) the Capri made 365 RWH 425 TQ it's a stock 150K short block with a ported head.
The Pinto Turbo. I know about Capri/Mustang turbos. My goal is to shoehorn a 2.3 Turbo unit onto my 3.3L I6. After seeing the Pinto Turbo install, I understand why its a natural fit. No shock tower.
Yep, a lot of electronics gotta keep the fuel pump up to speed. The stock T-3 won't flow enough air for a 3.3L,You need a Holset 351 or a T-70. I hope you have forged pistons & a good set of rods? If stock short block 6/7 lb of boost will be about it.. Jon Hubers Mustang 170 ci 4 cyl.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnW4W6ot5kY Mike
Thanks Mike, sounds about right too: http://www.allpar.com/fix/holler/slant-six-turbo.html I'd just like to get to about 160 to 170 HP. The wagon might weigh 2900 lbs loaded. Getting close to 6 or 7 hp per lb would make me happy. I pulled a utility trailer with the 302 V8 from Mexico to Canada with 145 HP and it cruised fine, but no oomph. Acceleration was out of the question at 60 MPH (over 3,000 lbs of boxes and furniture in the trailer and the roof rack and cargo were loaded too. Won't do that again, but it's sort of my benchmark. The I6 has more torque than the 302 did at low speeds. So if torque got close to 8 ft/lbs per pound of car at cruising speeds, I'd really be happy. So the goal is 170 HP and 200 ft/lbs torque, more or less.
I like this 6-banger. I used to build up SBCs, a couple Hemis, an old rollerbearing Porsche and even a Corvair Turbo Monza. Now, you can't go 2 blocks without a speed camera, up here. I did the dirty, when the tech was low. You only get a ticket if you get 'caught' speeding. Pi$$ed my dad right off! He'd get caught all the time, and my mother about twice a month. Me? Nothing! The Corvair Turbo was too slow to wind up and kick the old Paxton into play, but this I6 is no slouch and she's stock.
