    hey there fellow wagon fanatics!

this is the second go around for me as i forgot the password to my old account and had closed out the email it was linked to. my old account was elwoody565, not that any of you probably remember me, as i was not a very active member. but being a broke and busy college student can do that! but with spring and summer just around the bend, and my dad (he's the one who got me started on all of this, and i cant thank him enough!) and i wanting to start getting the wagons ready, i figured that its time to get back in the game! so this time around i hope to be a more contributing member to this wonderful online community of wagon nuts!

well, the fleet consists of a 1972 chrysler town and country with only 45,000 original miles on its 440 cubic inch plant! its big, mean, and griswold green! dad says he's been toying with the idea of selling it, as it is just to nice for us. and we would rather use the money to fix up our two clamshell wagons.

speaking of, our first one is a 1976 buick estate wagon. this one aint pretty but she is rust and rot free, and she's got all of her hard to find pieces. its gonna need a fair amount of cosmetic work to make her presentable, but she's worth it because of how solid she is.

the last and most recent is our 1973 oldsmobile custom cruiser. this ole boy is a super solid california wagon. we bought him out of the L.A. area and it is obvious he has spent his entire life out there. he's got a couple of dings and scratches, but with his sundried butternut yellow paint, it gives off a nice well worn patina. like an old baseball mit. it may not look nice and new, but you just cant beat the fit! this one has some rare options like the center console storage unit with the slide away cover, not unlike the clamshell tailgate itself. this wagon gave me the nickname of "wagon rescuer." because one day last summer a couple of lowlifes tried to steal it for a man who spotted it while up in our area on business. he lived 600 miles away and if he got his hands on it, he would have for sure parted it out and demo derbied it and we surely never would have found it. but the stars aligned and i cought these two guys in the act. i guess this wagon was meant to stay with us!

so there is our line up. i always say "our" or "we" because i am referring to my dad. his name is on the title of these vehicles, but he knows because he was the one who gave me this wonderful disease, that he has to share! lol

so again, i thank you for reading about the collection of wagons which is growing i the northwest suburbs of chicago. and i hope that i get to become well acquainted with all of you who share this passion for these woodsided whales of the interstate! so poetic, isnt it? lol

    take care,

    -bob

Welcome back! You and your Dad have a great fleet of wagons. I'd keep that Town and Country if I were you. You can't beat the style and that 440's torque. :Welcome:

    thanks guys,

yeah, the town and country is very cool. but like i said, we're just toying with selling it and maybe want to see if there is any interest if we were to put it on ebay or from members on here or something. we've been really happy with it, but like i said, it really is just too nice for us, we dont feel right about using it everyday. it only needs some minor cosmetics to be darn near perfect. and we would really like to get our clamshells up and rolling.

but yeah, we shall see. only time will tell. thanks again for the welcome guys, im very excited to be back!

They are gawd-awful awesome with that 440-4BBL. You're not driving, you're flying low! My foot got a lot lighter when I saw Police Special Mustang Interceptor chase down a new Vette from a standing stop in about 15 seconds, years ago! You wouldn't stand a chance against that 'Stang or the police hwy patrol radio network.

But he probably wants to pass more gas stations. :biglaugh:

yeah, the chrysler is nice, especially with the 440. but i would still take my 1971 olds 98 4 door hard top or the 1973 custom cruiser, both with the 455's over the chrysler. i just have a preference to the gm's because i grew up in the 1980's buick estates and custom cruisers. my dad just always buys gm, so that sticks with me.

but being a big blues brothers fan, knowing that i have that wonderful 440, which is equipped with the heavy duty, high performance racing cam, at the beckoned call of my right foot is a good feeling too! it was funny because when we first bought the chrysler wagon and brought it to our mechanic, who is also a mopar guy, called up a bunch of his friends to come over and decode the car as well as just drool over it. thats when we found out it was special ordered with the high performance cam shaft.

and 75rivGS, if you get back to this i wanted to ask you a question which i posted in wagon toys and memorabilia because i didnt know where else to post a question about an original part that i found. namely the original luggage carrier, just like the one you have for your buick wagon, and i wanted to ask you about it. thanks!

thanks again guys. its already been fun talking to ya! and let me know if anyone is interested in our chrysler wagon or knows someone who is. dad and i have been wanting to test the waters and see if there is any interest. thanks again!

:biglaugh: sorry rev. that was very selfish and teenager-esque of me!

its good to be back. you dont know how hard it is to love wagons and big american cars the way i do when everyone else you know wants to buy a toyota prius! :banghead3: so its great to have people to talk to and share the passion with!...not like the passion that mel gibson made though. not that kind of passion!
