Started my Riviera console install yesterday, did 95% of the triming to fit. A little more then I'll wire up the lights and power ports and start in on the brackets for the shifter and console, Initial fit before triming. After a few hours of triming it is pretty close, it's starting to look like it belongs there!
Another 'twin stick' automatic transmission.....LOL What year Riviera is that console from? Looks like it was made for the Caprice as well.... I know some B body guys have used '98 - '01 Blazer / Jimmy consoles. What are the differences?
It's a '98, I searched for a couple of years until I found a Burgundy one. I picked it because I saw another Caprice that had one and I liked the way it slides up to the dash after it is trimmed. The brakets are pretty easy to fab up, I think the shifter and cable will be my headache. After everything mounted and working, the next step will be to rig up the shift lever on the trans. I will either: Grind the Camaro lever I have and the stock lever thinner so that I can sandwich them together and use them both at the same time, or Make use of a strange lever I found on a 9C1 that looks like it will work both ways if I add a ball for the cable. Once I have the floor shifter working the tranny, all I have to do is knock the pin out of the column shifter and remove the handle. Then it will rotate from below and I will still have my neutral safety switch. The nice thing about the Blazer consoles is that they just lay on the floor with no triming. I would use a camaro cable for the shifter though, the blazer one is about 60 feet long
Did some more triming and wiring...., as went along I realized that I had removed some plastic that I didn't need to, I will detail that later for the next person who tries this, everything is fine, it was just extra work I didn't need to do. The console now ready for brackets I wired up the lights, cigarette lighter (it will power my touch screen) and the power port. Removed the 7mm screws that held the ashtray and junk box the ashtray light will provide power to the console lights, since both are GM, they are even the same color. I will tap into the lighter to power and ground the power port These are not needed, they are for the sissy "cant shift out of park without the brake on" solenoid power to the lights power to the lighter power to the power port! Tonight I will need to cut the Camaro shifter base down
Looks nice. I've got a solution to your shift cable dilemma, but it involves installing another pedal under the dash.
I've been adding a floor-shifter and console in mine since May (and other mods - AC/ PW/ PDL, etc.), and mine hasn't seen any of it. She hates mosquitos that much. I can only imagine what she might roll when she does see the car again.
This where I left off last night. I still need the shift cable setup but it's getting there! I wanted to be done before Wagonfest West but no dice.......
Looking good. Is that the original steering wheel? Seems like I recall one of my friends had a Lumina with that same wheel. Are you going to do the Bonneville seats or leave as is?
