I really need to find someone who has done an engine swap in a 92 B body or Buick Roadmaster wagon. Everyone talkes about engine swaps but not into a 92. Talk is usally about 94 - 96 models. Ive got a line on a 6.0 complete lift out including wiring harness and comp. Questions is what may I run into?? Cutting frame, Oil pan not clearing, Intake not clearing the hood???? Gotta be someone who has done it in a 92. Impala SS guys could talk engines but not a LQ9 swap into a 92 Hope I hear back thanks
Your best bet would be to check over at http://ls1tech.com/forums/ . I'd love to put one in my Eagle. I had a 6.0 in a one ton van and that thing moved. I would be great in a lighter vehicle. I remember one time I was at a red light and a kid in a Civic with a fart can pulled up next to me. Light turn green and we both nailed it. By 55 I had about 2 car lengths on him and let off. We got to the next light and he wouldn't look at me. It even had a glass rack with a residential door strapped to the side. Similar to this one.
EF, that's downright righteous! Jaimie, why don't you look at AutoZone's repair manuals for the 1992? They seem to have the manuals online. You can download the manual's images and print out the pages. At least it'll help in dicussing it with guys like Blackfoot (who has a 1992 RMW).
Clearence should not be an issue unless you are running a carb setup....which I still believe fits. The perfect guy to talk to is over on impalassforum.....she has the supercharged 6.0....i cant remember his name, but his plate says 2 ton fun.......(which I still find funny)
Great suggestion I didnt know it was available CarTech/How to swap GM LS-series engines into almost anything by Jefferson Bryant on its way for $25.00 THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys sorry. What I meant to write was I ordered from the Auto Zone site Again ,sorry and thanks for the help
engine swap in a 92 Buick Roadmaster wagon. Ok guys here's an update. A friend runs GM parts dept and just offered me a 6.0 long block that was in an 2009 G8. All aluminum block and heads. The motor had 500 miles on it when the owner drove through a flood, sucked in some water and bent a connecting rod. Should I grab it and go from there?? Rod and probably a cylinder sleeve and build around the rest. Which digit of the VIN will tell me exactly what motor it is? PS. the cost on the motor as is.............none !
God knows what else is wrong with it internally, but the price is right. What all is included on the engine (i.e. accessories, starter, intake, throttle body, etc.)? All of that stuff can be difficult and expensive to piecemeal together.
All that is included is block and guts. no intake or any bolt ons. My buddy is telling me with all the bolt ons I should have no more then is I bought the used lift out from a bone yard. At the end Ill have a 100% new motor. Im gonna have to research on everthing else. Brackets, pullies, waterpump, wiring harness, computer, and every other nut and bolt. Life is good What else do we have to do.......... Ill be right there honey, Im working Gotta go !
