One of the questions I asked the sellr is, has the car been in a front end accident. The front bumper in not 79-80. notice the grills in the 79-80 Colony front bumpers. The pic is exactly what my 80 looked like 1980mercurycolonypark.jpg

Close to 2,700 views of this one. For the price I am surprised it is still there. You could hardly go wrong with that price IMHO.

Take the day off work and go get it Tedy. Your boss will understand perfectly. You need your "fix" for your addiction and you'll work much harder knowing you have another needy child at home ;).

Heck, better yet take the rest of the week off - you've earned it. That way you can polish the new wagon, change the oil and filters, and take the loves of your life (that would be wife and puppies) for a get-away.

I'd be frozen with indecision. I be out ready to go to work and would not be able to make a decision as to which car to drive. I've got 5 cars now and lucky that one is non-op, one I hate, one that is the wife's and the other is all waxed up for the show this weekend. That leaves one to drive.

I'm also cheap so I do most repairs and all servicing myself. I'd be crippled trying to keep up with more than four and I'd like to downsize to three. If we had a carbon tax here I don't know what I'd do.:banghead3:

That's cheap enough that you can buy it sight unseen and still be OK.
Just show up at the guy's door with the cash.

Go for it Tedy. Looks like it's in fine shape. It's the same color as my '87. The grille and bumper look correct for an '85.

The sellers friend got back to me (email but no phone call:slap:)

    My email questions.....

    (1) Has the car been in a front end accident or any? I'm asking this because it is listed as a 79 and the front end is not correct for a 79-80

    A half answer...."sorry, I just updated the add and it's a 1985"

    (2) Is the interiour cloth or leather and in what condition, rips, tears etc?

    No answer

    (3) Any rust and if so where?

    No answer

    (4) Does the car have any inspection notices that would/could prevent it from being insured?

No answer (big red flag for me, I've asked this question for every beater I've bout and always have gotton a instant answer)

    (5) I realize it's a older car and things need to repaired as age takes it's natural tolls, what needs to be repaired/fixed no matter how simple. Does everything work and if not, what?

    no answer

The engine, is it a 302 or a 351 and what millage

Answer Got the millage (was not posted at first) I think it's the bigger one but I'm not sure. Then sellers friend mentioned....

    IT"S NOT RUNNING....

    (6) I am intersted, please phone...and I left my phone number and what do I get? A email that did'nt answer any thing I asked:slap:

I realize I may not be dealing with a car person but come on, if you can't answer questions .... I'm not interested.

I don't have a good feel about this one, I'm passing on it

If you can't get even reasonable responses to your questions then they aren't serious about selling it. Who knows what you may be inheriting for issues. Good move on your part to walk. Mind you, if they come back with some good answers it is not like you can't change your mind;). I'd be offering $200 with the lack of info, should they ask you to make an offer and if they want more go to $210.

Looks like a fair deal even if you had to put an engine in it - as long as it isn't rusty and the interior worn out. As for the guy not answering emails properly - some folks just do not like typing it seems. I'd say at least find out where the car is and drive over and look at it. You can as suggested, always make a rude offer if nothing else. One thing is for sure - big cars are not selling well any more. Having said that, we bought a '89 Crown Victoria sedan last fall with a 302 in it and I am amazed at how affordable it is to drive daily and it is comfortable, quiet and best of all, paid for! I bought two more Crown Vics for parts for $100.00 each from a local guy who was crushing so spare parts are cheap and still plentiful. Sadly, this survivor may well end up in a demolition derby or a junk yard unless you rescue it.Wish it was closer - I'd have a look at it myself. I hope that you save it from a very uncertain and gloomy future if it doesn't fall into the hands of someone who appreciates it.
