since ive had it the passenger side hasnt worked, the key is ok and when the right key is inserted the tumblers allow it to move, it just spins freely without unlocking. now the driver door does the same thing and i cannot get in the vehicle unless i crawl from the back lol or leave it unlocked. dont want someone to run off with my cobra 29 cb though. my thought is that there is a lever that should hang on to the lock cylinder and move the locking mechanism that has just backed its screw out and fell off. question is how best to get to this, i can take the armrest etc loose and see how to pull the bottom panel off but the top wooded plastic peice with the pull handle seems locked in place. I dont want to break it trying to get it loose, or go through all that to find out its not reachable from there or there was any easier way to do it. anybody done this before? did the part just come loose, or would it have most likely broken?
it should be relatively easy - they are sometimes in 2 pcs, but most likely the top will lift off the door once all the fasteners are loose. 1984 Service (but in this case chassis) Manuals I found a couple on eBay not cheap! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984...ptZMotorsQ5fManualsQ5fLiterature#ht_500wt_956 and http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-OR...tZMotorsQ5fManualsQ5fLiterature#ht_500wt_1182 best of luck - someone will be along to help I'm sure
well i found out that behind that pull handle were four screws, you have to untuck the vinyl from the sides, door panel came right off then looks like the clips were not properly seated, theres a little tab that needs to pop down in the hole of the eye to keep it from retreating. driver door fixed, im sure the passenger is the same scenario
I was going to say there is usually a little plastic clip that comes loose. P.S. should have done the passenger door first, so there would be motivation to finish both sides..
