Yes...they are pretty good. I don't see ANYthing with those kinds of numbers anywhere. AND...from the early engines on up there seems to be an array of HP models. L79 300-350 for example. Hard to say which engine is in your wagon. Anywhere from 200 hp to 375. Although, the latter was the hi performance engine.
Evil....just for kicks....go here http://www.compnine.com/ and type in your VIN. Doubt it will work on that car but give it a shot.
Evil ...Sorry, I could'nt resist Nice collection, Not many wagons like your Chev out here in that good of condition! I love the old Hearse. It would be nice see more pics and maybe, add it to the..... http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/gallery/browseimages.php?c=61
Thanks ... there's a couple of pics up now. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/gallery/browseimages.php?c=100 Maybe I better close that 2nd garage as it's got no goons.
I'm always curious as to why folks blank out info like this. The most ridiculous in my opinion are people who blank out their license plate in photos of their car. News flash: I can see the plate when you drive the car! Same thing with withholding VIN info in an ad. I can read the VIN through the windshield when the car is parked.
Evil some pretty cool stuff in your garage!!!! and I get the paranoia....my budddy the lives in ALberta,Canada recieved a call from a Repo house in INdiana,USA...telling him to come get his Harley or they would sell it!!! well...the Harley was sitting in his garage...had never been to Indiana... ...ever !! but he had posted pics of it on a forum....ironically...stating the VIN #... ...4 years prior oh...btw...he went and got it ...800 bucks in storage fees...pretty cheap for a Harley thats already in your name
In 1968 there were 5 327 engines available - I was working for Nickey in Chicage! 250hp - 2bbl low compression small cam + valves 275hp - 4bbl version of above - Q-jet 300hp - higher compression, but same as above 325hp - same as above, but bigger valves and cam 350hp - yes, the L-79! Holley carb, bigger cam and 2.02 - 1.48 valves - N/A w/auto! [last year available, as was replaced by the LT-1 350] Nickey bought a boxcar load of the L-79 shortblocks when the LT-1 replaced them, and we were selling the heck out of them for $248!! '68 had, I believe, the longest engine option list in any year - 1-230 [6 cyl.] I-307 5-327's 3-396's 2-427's Wish they'd kept records on all the 'engine swaps' we did!
Welcome to the site... To answer the engine questions, the number to the left of the letter T are the original serial numbers for the vehicle and should match the numbers on the dash identification number plate. The numbers to the right of the T are the engine numbers, and of no value to anyone, except the person that wants the engine codes to be deciphered. The T indicates that the engine comes from the Tonawanda engine plant in New York. If you are worried about someone stealing your engine and / or body numbers, then never take the car out in public, unless you are there to prevent anyone from writing them down.
