My '83 wagon has a 'whatever' 7.5" open rear...
Can and will, a rear end out of a '92 Trans Am/Camaro (8.5") be directly bolted in???
It has disc brakes and either a 3.20 or a 3.40 gear, with limited slip and the price would be right, if it is a easy bolt in!!!
And it would solve some problems down the road, for the wagon.
I know I'll need a different proportioning(sp?) valve and I would need a shorter dirveshaft(7.5" to a 8.5"), but I'll be changing (the driveshaft) anyway when I redo the drivetrain with a 700R4, behind whatever engine I go to.
I looked thru old posts and couldn't spot this swap.
    Thanks,
    Bruce
Ps. HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON !!!!! :162:
Looks like at least it will be in the lower 60's here (woohoo) !!!
    Sunny south FLA...Bah-Humbug... I want SNOW !!!
    (for a day or 2)

No.. The rear of an pony GM wont fit directly....
The K-link bars is not even in the same side of the axle.. But with some new controlarms, and a little bit of measuring it sounds like a good swap to do!

The only rears that BOLT RIGHT IN are other g-body rears... Sorry.

Also, no, you don't want snow. It sucks, and is not fun. I'm still recovering from shoveling and snowblowing last night...

    Hey Marcar...

Thanks for the reply. Are there any parts worth scavenging???

But about the snow...I said for about 2 days!!!
We had snow here once in 89 for Thanksgiving...
We ran ALL night and ALL day at the fire department(on rescue).
    5 auto accidents,
    4 broken hips,
    3 slips and falls,
    2 bodies hyopthermic
and a male part stuck to a...pole!!! (darned drunk teens)
(they had pics, (at city hall) we had pics also...OUCH!!!) :camera:
I know it kinda sounds like the 12 Days of Christmas...but...
We wern't amused!!! 24hr. shift and 20 calls, all day and nite.
The engine guys ran all nite too, 'smelling smoke calls'...DUHHAAA, you think???
34 degrees after 3 light winters will do that to you.
Those fireplaces here arn't made for 'blazing fires'!!!
    Thanks again,
    And
    'MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!'
    Bruce

I would absolutley do the swap if i could get my hands on a rightpriced camaro posi... Then again, i work at a speedshop, and have done about 100 swaps, 4-link, k-link and leaf conversions on racecars, hotrods and kustoms..
The only thing to keep in mind is.. Measure twice, cut once.

    a1...
Didn't we have this conversation before???
Come on down now...the sun is shining,
the sky is blue and unemployment is at 12.3%, housing is at an all time low, people are leaving faster than they come in(5000 out 2300 in).
Sad state of affairs, but live goes on...kinda...somehow...!!!
    Later,
    Bruce

Makes you wonder who is profiting by all of this misery???
