Yeah...I like this wagon but the biggest reason I got off it is because of that 76 350. If you are going to do a car up like Randy did...it's beyond me why he didn't build a 455 and drop it in there. Not everybody's cup of tea....but that's what I would have done. If I could have bought the car cheap enough I STILL would have done that.

    Sf..455 ???

I'm with you SF, it doesn't cost that much to do a BBO(just for 350hp). But, the look is IMPRESSIVE !!! They are reliable, plentiful and FUN!!!
But, I'm sure he had some reasons. I checked on a Bal.&Blueprint, SBO, just looking for 350hp. and the shop told me, I could either do just headwork, or cam and carb. to get there, but if I did it all three, I'd be around 425hp.!!! And that was nothing fancy, without going into the bottom end(I wouldn't do it that way, but you could). $1000. for port&polish on the heads isn't bad, and a hyd. cam(nothing fancy) would go for $500. with lifters and roller stamped rockers(it's a friction thing). The whole engine, rebuild, B&B, pistons, crank, boring(all new), with shipping would be around $6k, and dyno'ed around 500hp, with a set of #5 or 7 heads(I have one set of each). He just finished one with the hyd. roller and it broke the 600hp. mark, with 10.5 compression(I only want 9.2-9.5... for the cheap gas[no such thing]....LOL). Anyway, that's where I kinda want to go with the H/O, so's I can run 87 'tane...89 at the most.
Oh well, it will wait for next summer. I probably will do the bottom end myself and ship the heads out and get the cam from them.
It's getting late...Just got the Streak back, a little rumble don'tchaknow, SWEET!!! :yahoo:
    Later,
    Bruce

I'm not sure of all your figures there, bstout. I do know that your are STARTING with way over 400 lbs of torque with the 455. It's late and I don't remember the numbers like I used to. A mild build on my 455's will bring it to 425 HP and it's sweet for the street. I like them around 450 HP and 525 lbs torque. HP puts smiles on faces but torque wins races. Especially with a 4500 lb wagon.

    455...

450ft.lbs. is mild for the big boys. I was thinking a little less soes' I wouldn't be ripping out the 10 bolt, 8.5" on the G-body. I saw a 383 stroker with 425ft.lbs and 325hp on a crate engine, but I kinda backed out of there on some good info. They said a stroker isn't such a hot idea for a daily driver. I guess they tend to run a little warm in the summer and traffic. It was more like sticking with the SBO. A lot of things came into play there, you know how flimsy the stock suspension is, and I would end up changing almost everything, for stronger pieces with the BBO, or the stroker. The 425ft.lbs would be around 1500rpm's, so it would be a tire ripping monster. That would end up twisting up everything back of the flexplate(LOL). I have lots of respect for the big boys, but that's just not my thing. When they come apart...they FLY, scares me a little, dontchaknow!!!
But I still like listening to those BBO's !!! :p

Ya Know, the more I look at this Cutlass Cruiser the more I see a over priced car no matter where in North America you live. It is a nice looking car, hard to really look at because of the off angle pics witch are a good fool the eye thing when it comes to taking pics . The more this wagon comes up, the more flaws I see in the "lack" of pics that the seller is providing.

It is a bit hard to see but once you twist your head so the pics are normal 90degrees there are chips etc..it is a daily driver though. There are no pics of the cargo erea ( very important to a $7000 agon), no pics of the spare tire erea, no pics of the under carage,, and no pics what so ever of the 1976 engine witch is made out to be soooo awesome.

The pics show alot of interiour flaws. The pic with the drivers door open..look close at the bottom right corner, the pillar moulding is shot..and if it is'nt, lets see some close up pics from the seller.

What is clearly the drivers side rear door, you can see water stain on the tan door pannel witch is starting that famous pinkish patina and if you look harder it kinda looks like more of the tan is going that way The fabric on that door panel is dirty, a black dirty witch means water damage. The fabric for the seats is the bare bones material. The door panel I just mentioned has damage to the wood trim ( I know this is fore ever as I did it to my own drivers door) and to memtion drivers door, where is the moulding piece for the doors hand strap?

Bruce, think about it, you have a few wagons that could beinfet from the $$ this one is asking, through it into them. I honestly think that BF was rite on the $ when it came to this car now that we keep on seeing it.

I saw the last Ebay price,,,,For what??

    Constructive critz Bruce:wave:

Right on all counts, Fat. On the money. ANNNDD....I HATE it when they get artsy fartsy with their crooked and weird angle pix. I've been in the visual pic biz all my life and the only way to SHOW something is to show it to people the way their mind remembers seeing things. Any other way is frustrating, irritating and will make them stop looking at it.

PT barnum, WC Fields...it's all GOOD !!! The wagon...not so much..

    Hi Guys,
My BAD, but the message is the same. There's a sucker...
Anyway the pic's I saw of the wagon before were straight up!!! The frame and bottom was cleaned and then undercoated, and Randy went up from there. I think the car isn't sitting quite level and the angle were trying to throw us off. Now that he raised the car 3 grand he has to make it look BETTER than it is/was. Randy wasn't selling for 7 or 8 grand, he sold it for 6.(to Vt.). To me that's a BIG diff.!!! Vt. is slick and I have a hard time trusting him, and he is clearly in over-his-head here. I ain't going to bail him out, but I would take the car for my price. I really don't know about any leaks(or issues there), unless this guy did intentional damage to it for ins.!!! That I would check out!!! I have spoke to Randy since the sale and he doesn't seem to know of any changes. But then Vt. was going to USE the car and improve upon what was there, not flip it. Randy was very much put off by the news. The one thing is a little fishy here is I believe Randy had a REAL title for the car. So Vt. traded in a real title for basically a Bill-of-Sale. In our state that sounds like a 'salvage title', which would make it tough to insure. He seemed to make a big ado about the title/certificate thing.
Oh well, I really don't think Vt. is going to call me... If he does, I'll toy with him and get my price...or just screw with him some more. He seems to bring out my nasty side. I can't remember anyone ever doing that without ever meeting them, face-to-face.
If I would get the chance at it, it now would be for $5500. and not a penny more...It's the nasty side thing.
Where is Phantom in all of this...He's sporting a G-body wagon..
Thanks a bunch guys, your like my 'little voice' but LOUDER !!! :yikes:
    Later,
    Bruce
