Had an offer to buy 'the wagon', for what I offered 3 weeks ago, only this time without the (H/O)shifter, for $6750.. :rofl2:
I countered with $6000. and the conversation was oooover!!!
I guess he wanted to use the shifter for bargaining.
    Whatever...
    Have a nice Christmas...butthead!!!
Feeling the pinch of the economy??? Or just a bad investment???
I hope so, I don't work like that, not for anyone!!!
So, I'm sure we'll see it again in the near future
and I'm sure back at $8900. (the W.C. Fields thing)
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!!!
I knew he didn't check things out, in our little corner of the i-net.
    Thanks for all your support,
    Bruce

Yeah....good for you, bstout. He thought he had you waiting in the wings as a safety valve. I knew when he mentioned that shifter that it would be a bargaining tool. Goes to show.....if you want to sell cars and make money....you can't fall in love with them. You will pay too much up front. Not everyone else likes what you like and will throw money at it. He may sit awhile on that one. Or cut his loss and move on.

    SF... you won't believe this...

He has the car back on Ebay for $6999.00, and no mention of the shifter.
It is on for about 12 more hours. At that price he's still breaking even.
But, I'd still be good for the $6000., but not a penny more and that would be with the shifter and all the rebuild pics.
I really didn't think he scanned the i-net...He's not that smart or savvy!!!
Randy, never played any games about the car. He even told me he had been trying to sell it for a while. But no takers at that price. I gave him a bid and was ready to buy, until Vt. blew me out of the water (sorta speak), he never intended to keep it, just to resell it.
Guess you can tell I'm still a little miffed, but, only because I couldn't get it back when it would have cost me $229. to get it registered in Fl..
Karma is a witch(cleaned that up to), and she has long arms and a super memory!!!
I'm glad I havn't ticked her off lately!!!:bowdown::bowdown: (as you can tell 3's my lucky number)

12 more hours?? What. He put it on for 2 days?? He IS trying to get out of the car. A $2K drop isn't peanuts, but then....we do know about what he paid for it. You did good, bstout. I think you helped the guy see a little reality.
I may have helped a little too when I stopped all communications with him after he tried to put you against me on the side. That irritates me to no end when guys put a car on ebay and then tries to wheel and deal on the side. Doubt ebay appreciates that. Not that I give a beep about ebay.

    SF,
Like I said before, he thought there was more interest than there was, and he was going to exploit it.
Being honest with peeps is not what many people feel is their duty, especially when they are trying to make money.
My question is, why was his product any better than the guy he bought it from? Same product, same wrapper... No changes anywhere.
Honestly, I wouldn't have bought it away from eBay, because they do offer a forum to correct things and to be heard. His paying them for selling it and paying Paypal for collecting it, should have been built-in. He just ain't that bright!!!
Oh, well.. Another one bites the dust...
    Later, and thanks!!!
    Bruce
Ps. Did you see my posting on needing parts??? IN restorations, some plastic interior pieces... BOLO..Thanks!!!

If you are still interested in that wagon.....I'm not sure it has left you just yet.
Is that PS for me? No, I didn't see what you are referring to. And.... LOL....I don't know what BOLO means.

    Hey SF,
BOLO... is; be on the lookout...
I'm needing some interior plastic parts, I was(just) calling your attention to it. In case there are some junk yards in your area with some G-body wagons in them. Never hurts to network.
Yes, I would still take the wagon, for MY price. But, I'm not counting on it and not letting it get in the way of my plans!!! I still need a spare car for the spring(March). My son that is away was promised one and the little turd is getting all 'A's,(that was the deal) in his first year at college. If he keeps it up, I'm out 1 daily driver. Kind of the really good part of, I have good-news and not-so-good-news. He's in Bio-Medical engineering, with a minor in Physics'(very demanding but he's up to it). Oh well, not such a bad price to pay for that kind of success!!!
    Later,
    Bruce

What wagon are you talking about? I see two in that price range on feegay right now - a Mercury and a '55 Chevy four-door - are either of those what you are looking at?

    Hi Patrick...

The wagon is a 1980 Olds(g-body), that looks like a '79 Hurst/Olds. It was done by a guy in Minneapolis and went on a couple of Power Tours. It is sharp for what it is, but thats it! No real value, as a collector car, won't appreciate past where it is. But, it is nice and looks like my sons '79 white/gold Hurst. It would be a decent cruiser, and something to play with. All the interior has been redone and the paint is good.
I tried to buy it in Sept. but Vermont outbid me, and put it back on eBay, for $8999.. He paid $6k for it, and a H/O(his/hers) shifter.
There is some chatter back in middle of Sept. about it also.
    Oh, well...
    Thanks for asking,
    Bruce

Neat ride. I like phantoms (one-of-none) cars! Sounds like the seller has a lot of "drama" going on. I like the H/O shifter, too, but he thinks it's $800 worth? Damn!

Might still end up being yours, ya never know!

I geuss you'd know this stuff bstout, but I think some of the claims are a little off.
I don't think that a 2.73 was a H/O gear, but I could be wrong on that one. I know from 83 on it definatly was not...
I would also be curious as to what was done to "mildly build" the 76 350. Because in stock form a 73-76 350 isn't too far from an olds 307 or chevy 305 in performance.
Also, a stock 79 h/o would have an olds 350... (As you'd probably know, owning one...)

Trying to bring any and all info you may or may not know to your attention.

Performance from a '79...Get serious... 170 butt-kickin, (hungry) ponies on a 3400lb. car(8-10mpg., around town), not so much!!! And torque, not so much!!! The only thing they had going for them was a His/Her and T-Tops.. The 14" wheels/tires, spun those tires like grease on a hot griddle. Everyone thinks they are something, but they are far from fast, in fact they are far from quick, but they are fun!!! And to H/O peeps there was only 537 t-tops made that year. Not bad considering the ### of other 'desirable' cars out there.
    Back to the wagon..
I spoke to the cars builder, and he really downplayed the engine, as just something that sounded good... Nothing more... Randy didn't need to HYPE his goods, he had the credentials and knew what the car was. However, the buyer(who is now hawking it) does not know squat and is a parrot for gush.
Oh well, there is a history aside from the car here.
Back to business...Mommas SW2 was way faster and had 4 wheel discs and antilock, what a little wagon...Sweeeet !!! And then some, 5 speed and all the goodies you could have on a '92. That was should have been a keeper!!!
Later guys...off to get the Streak back home from the muffler shop..:jumping:
