My wife had her surgery yesterday, about 3 1/2 hours of it. Doc said the chemo had done a great job getting rid of the cancer. He removed what little was left and wants her to have 3 more chemo sessions to make sure all was gone. He said that he didn't see any swelling in her lymph nodes, so hopefully they were not affected. She did have a spot on one of her kidneys, but it was small enough to remove and the kidney should still function. He said he expected her cancer to go into remission and she should be fine. Thanks for all the prayers, well wishes and posts. Just don't forget what I mentioned about if anyof the women in your lives start having any funny stuff going on in their lower stomach area. This stuff comes on fast and silent. The earlier it is caught, the better. By the time the symptoms get bad it has already gotten a pretty good hold.
I think it was Norman Cousins, authour of "Laughter Is The Best Medicine", that told a story about his Cancer challenge. Apparently, his doctors told him he had 3 months left, because his Leukemia was advanced. He stopped all contact with his doctors, hired an assistant to run all the Laurel & Hardy movies he could find and parked himself in some luxury hotel suite and literally laughed himself out of his leukemia. He hauled in his doctors 5 months later and they found no sign of anything. They then included laughter therapy in their 'recovery' processes for different cancers. I forget which chemical that laughter deploys into the blood system, but its Mother Nature's cure-all. Whatever humor that doesn't involve cynical or sarcastic undertones. They defeat the benefit. Glad to hear that your wife is on the mend. Mine is scheduled for a checkup. Thanks.
I join everyone else is saying this is, indeed, wonderful, wonderful news. It sounds like you two have some very good doctors who know their stuff. Be sure to pass along my best wishes to the Mrs!!
I am not saying she is out of the woods, but things are for sure a lot brighter. As Norm pointed out, sometimes the body can indeed fix itself through its own methods. I have heard of cancer completely going away without any treatment from doctors. Don't know exactly what is happening in these cases, but something is. Maybe cancer was not even present to begin with, maybe a flaw in the testing equipment.......just don't know. A good friend took his wife to an ER in Texas. The ER doc told them she had pancreatic cancer. The next day, they told them she did not. I asked him if he had a word of prayer with the doc, and he said that she asked him not to. Lucky for the doc.
Dodge Guy... Sounds like you will be celebrating a very happy THANKSGIVING, and well into the NEW YEAR !!! My wife does cancer... KILLS IT THAT IS !!! She is on the treatment planning and medical physicics end. She has only been doing it for about 25 years, but has NEVER treated a mis-diagnosed case of cancer. No creditable (oncology) Doc. does, having said that, an ER doc isn't a board certified ONC/RAD Doc.! Each have their places, but diagnosis isn't as easy as looking at a fractured radius or femur x-ray, then spewing out some gibberish. I HATE RUMORS, because they tend not to be entirely true or accurate. And the rumors outlast the real truth, because we ALL can't understand things that we cant, see, grasp or feel. We are simple creatures, that need constant reminding of the things we already know!!! The news about your wife and ya'lls life being on the mend is WONDERFUL, enjoy and cherish EVERY minute of every day, and CELEBRATE those days!!! God Bless (which he already has and continues to do), all of us !!! Bruce
