Nice-looking car. Poor ad, though. Only five photos, nothing of the engine, and he couldn't be bothered to get the crap out of the back seat. Do the towels come with it? Price is a bit steep at $17k, especially with 160,000 miles on it. He misspells "Toronado" in the ad title, and he fails to mention at all that it's an XS, which would be a selling point for the car. I could also do without the Fourth of July stuff stuck to it. How does that help sell the car? https://newlondon.craigslist.org/cto/d/danielson-oldsmobile-toranado/7648786576.html
Oh, there are dumb bunnies who'll buy into it. Regardless of missing photos and the price, are there any discrepancies you see?
All of the body filler panels are there and don't appear to be failing, so that's definitely a sign it has been cared for. That the blue interior trim plastic hasn't turned to powder completely also means it's probably been kept in a garage out of the sun for a long period of its life as that baby blue was terrible for longevity at this time. Same with the dash not being cracked. I always presume when I see stuff in the back seat or trunks not cleaned out that the car is being sold on a whim, rather than truly trying to sell it. $17k for 160k miles... at least he's not trying to pass it off as 60k miles. I think he'll have it for a while at that price.
I've nothing against patriotism, but put the flags on a flagpole next to the car so we can see the &*#%$ car!! I don't see anything untoward, but the photos don't tell us much. There's no close-up of the dash at all, no view of the trunk, engine, or underside. Now these are not the kinds of cars that people modified, so I'm not expecting to see a different engine or something like that. But you can still see what options the car has and how much of the original equipment under the hood is still there. At 160,000 miles, anything could be under there. I agree that $17K is way over the top for a car with that many miles. There's a Toro XS on ebay from a classic car dealer that's been there for probably a year now. It keeps getting re-listed, sometimes with a different starting price, but he just can't seem to move it. His starting price is usually around $10K. I don't know what the reserve is, but I'm thinking that, by now, if he got a bona fide offer of $10,000, he'd take it.
Totally agree. I even hate the photos when guys will have their girl friends sprawled all over the car. Ok for your collection, but don’t clutter up the car when you’re trying to sell it. 9 times out of 10 the girl friend doesn’t add to the desirability of wanting to buy the car. Lol
Or worse yet a butterball. I remember going to a Hooters show and the girls were working the lot flomping out on the hoods to have their pictures taken. I told one of them if one boob hits my hood, your dead meat. They probably thought I was an a hole but come on really?
