Looks a little crusty underneath. Those speakers really protrude into the cargo area. I assume a former owner installed the surface mount speakers because decent aftermarket speakers in the OEM size weren't available at the time. Either that or the hump-mounted stereo was installed as a parallel stand-alone system. A shame -- I'm pretty sure that the factory stereo was even rarer in a Country Sedan than it was in the Squire.
As I understand it, by post-pandemic standards $7.5K is considered affordable, but after 30 years of storage, it's going to need quite a bit to get it reliably back on the road. Wish I had the bucks to do it.

It appears there is stereo in the dash. I’m like you I would rather find a way to hook the original unit up. Even though it’s not a stock unit. According to the Marti report the car came only with an AM radio. It was also ordered with the rear speakers. I like the ‘71-‘72 speaker button that was an added knob specifically placed next to the volume knob. Nice car, but I think after you would need to put the kind of work to get it back on the road $7,500 would only be the beginning.
