Before anyone else puts this body style down, I want to say I have always liked this bustle-back body style. Even the Buick version looks good, but I prefer Oldsmobiles. When my last boss has his shop at the Chevron station in downtown Lynnwood, WA, there was a '78 2-door in silver, with a burbly engine and dual exhaust. Man, it sounded sooooo nice!

The body style is growing on me, but what really lets it down for me in the Chevy 305 V8, wasn't a 350 Olds still available? Or am I remembering wrong? The 305 would be better than a 260 Olds V8

I don't recall if the 307 Olds was released for that model year. But, no 350 that late in the game. They didn't call it the 'Malaise Era' for nothing.

Just checked the '78 brochure. Various versions of the Buick 231 V6, and the 260 and 305 V8 were available, depending on carburation, and whether a manual or automatic was behind it. For instance, you could order the Chevy 305 with a 2-barrel and a manual transmission behind it....but not in California. There WAS a 4-barrel Chevy 350 V8 available (LM1), but you apparently could only get it in the Cutlass station wagons, and it was only available with the 'high altitude' option - Colorado delivery, etc. - at least for '78.

Well I knew you could get the 350 Olds in the 79 Hurst Olds, but I forgot that you could not get it in a 2-door or 4-door just the Full size & midsize wagons apparently.
