That's a beauty! Is the woodgrain supposed to be that dark?

 

Looks like it's been redone, but if it's not an exact match, it's pretty close. Colony Parks' woodgrain material was supposed to look like polished walnut. Here's the '75 wagon brochure:

Yeah they shifted from dark to darker in certain years. I know later ‘70’s was a rosewood appliqué. That ‘75 looks hauntingly familiar. Lol very similar to my ‘77.

 

I've seen a few of these vintage Mercury wagons when they were newer (and on the occasional TV show from the era) and the woodgrain was very dark compared to GM wagons of the same era or the later wagons of the '80s that did wood, so as Marshall says if it's not original and been redone they got it really close.

I love the looks of these cars even if the engines were relatively underpowered by 1975.

 

Actually, it was supposed to be simulated rosewood. The paneling on this car looks original. Unlike the Quadrasonic 8-track, which was not available in '75.

 

Also the express window “option “ and the key fob are an interesting touch. Also there is a good looking ‘73 wagon on here. That has new wood, which oddly enough looks right for the later ‘70’s cars, but the ‘73, - ‘74 in that body style where the 2 years where the wood was “planked”

 

The 400 was at a low this year (it would get better by '77), but I wouldn't say the 460 was underpowered by 1975 standards. Both did pretty good on torque, which was important consider how heavy these cars were.

 

Sold for $20,000. It it a beautiful car. That price seems pretty robust, but it’s a lovely car.
